Fairtrade International unites the producer-, market- and business-facing activities within the Fairtrade Labelling system. FLO eV develops the Fairtrade Standards; promotes the empowerment of Fairtrade-certified producers by supporting them in gaining and maintaining Fairtrade Certification and capitalizing on market opportunities; and facilitates global Fairtrade markets, to optimise benefits for producers. With our office being based in Bonn/Germany, we are working with Partners & Members in approximately 80 countries. The Producer Services and Relations (PSR) Unit supports producers by providing training in local languages, offering guidance on certification requirements, helping producers to gain access to new markets and facilitating relationships with buyers. Fairtrade International currently has a Student Assistant position available in its Producer Services & Relations Asia (PSR) Unit Reports to: International Development Director Tasks: Overall: Provide administrative, organizational, logistical, and other work related services to assist the work of the Producer Services and Relations Asia Unit, such as, for example: Tasks related to administrative process: Update of the unit information systems, in particular the producers and product related database and filing system Update of the unit specific reporting and documentation systems (visit reports, ad hoc reporting, communications) Carry out information research tasks upon request Support in the revision and editing of documents Assist in the preparation and compilation of documents Tasks related to linkage between remote staff and Head office in Bonn: Follow up on administrative inquiries of LOs or RMs directly and escalate other inquiries/ needs to the most appropriate person in PSR or wider Fairtrade International team Communicate relevant information regarding Fairtrade system, and Fairtrade International e.V. specifically to LOs and RMs Requirements: Excellent English (one of the languages of the producer country in the region an asset) Experience in data research and compilation, Computer literacy (Microsoft Office and especially use of Excel and Power Point) Communication and intercultural skills Motivation for the cause of Fairtrade Customer orientation Studies in the field of Economics, Agronomy, Politics, Social Science, Geography of related field an asset Some experience in developing countries (e.g., work, internships, travels) an asset Only applicants can be considered who are enrolled in German universities Terms and Conditions: Working time 20 hours per week, distributed flexible Remuneration in line with applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement, Tarifvertrag Groß- & Außenhandel NRW, Group II Duration: 4 months Please apply by email only, in English, with Curriculum Vitae and motivation letter, citing “Student Assistant PSR Asia” in the subject line to [email protected] Deadline for applications is 27th October 2014
