Packages for Service Personnel – Robert Moton Elementary School
Robert Moton Elementary School has received a grant from the Girls on the Run program. Health
teacher Pat Tarlow has collected extra Halloween candy as part of her sugar lessons. The candy, along
with socks, chap stick, toothbrushes, toothpaste, wipes, and other items, will be sent to service
personnel serving abroad. The funds from Girls on the Run and their “girl power” will be used to help
package the items during conference night on Tuesday, November 25.

Swearing-In Ceremony
A swearing-in ceremony for the newly elected and re-elected members of the Board of Education of
Carroll County will be held on Wednesday, December 3, at 2:00 p.m. at the Board offices, located at 125
North Court Street in Westminster. Clerk of the Circuit Court Donald B. Sealing will issue the Oath of
Office to Virginia Harrison, who was re-elected to a second four-year term, and Bob Lord and Devon
Rothschild, who were elected to the Board for the first time in November. The new members will be
seated at the Board of Education meeting to be held on Wednesday, December 10, at 4:00 p.m. The
election of officers also will take place at this meeting.

Budget Work Session
The Board of Education of Carroll County will hold a work session on the FY16 Operating Budget on
Wednesday, December 3, at 3:00 p.m. The session will be held in the Charles I. Ecker Boardroom at the
Board of Education offices, located at 125 North Court Street in Westminster.

31 Bag Bingo – East Middle School
The East Middle School PTO is hosting a 31 Bag Bingo on Friday, December 5, at Pleasant Valley Fire Hall.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner is available for purchase from the Pleasant Valley Fire
Department. Bingo begins at 7:00 p.m. Bags are stuffed full of goodies, cash and gift cards. There will
be 20 Games, 2 Specials, and Loser Bingo. Tickets are $12.00 in advance and $15.00 at the door. For

Winter Express – Manchester Elementary School
The “Winter Express” will be held at Manchester Elementary School on Saturday, December 6, from 9
a.m. to 12 noon in the gym and cafeteria. There will be games, crafts, food, and a holiday gift shop.

Board of Education Meeting
The Board of Education of Carroll County will meet on Wednesday, December 10, at 4:00 p.m. in the
Charles I. Ecker Boardroom at the Board of Education offices, located at 125 North Court Street in
Westminster. There will be time for citizen participation at this meeting. The public is encouraged to
attend.
Citizen participation will be held following administrative items and presentations. Citizens who wish to
address the Board during Citizen Participation are encouraged to check the agenda prior to the meeting
to determine what time the public comment portion of the meeting will begin. The agenda and back-up
materials for the meeting can be found by going to the school system’s website at www.carrollk12.org
and clicking on “Online Meeting Agenda” at the bottom of the page.

Choral/Drama Boosters Raffle – Francis Scott Key High School
The Francis Scott Key High School Choral/Drama Boosters are sponsoring a raffle for an iPad Air 2.
Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20 and will be sold through December 18. The drawing will be held at the
FSK Winter Chorus Concert on Thursday, December 18. The concert begins at 7:00 p.m. The winner does
not need to be present to win.
