THE OPEN MIND CENTER
~ Starting Off Right ~
“You're off to Great Places! Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting, So... get on your way!”
- Dr. Seuss The beginning of every New Year is always full of excitement! The air is
fresh and everyone is open and ready for change. We are motivated to
become our best selves. Most importantly, we are setting ourselves up for
the rest of the year. If you start with a positive attitude, you are more likely
to succeed and accomplish our hopes and dreams.
Start this year with enthusiasm! Create a list of goals and intentions for the
year. They can be big or small, long term or short term. It’s important to
have a mix of them. If you can cross a few things off your list easily, you
will feel motivated to keep working on the more challenging tasks. Another
important key for accomplishing your objectives is to make a plan. Don’t
just say, “This year I’m going to better myself.” Instead, say, “This year I’m
going to go to a yoga class once a week,” or, “This year I’m going to
meditate everyday for at least 10 minutes.” The more specific we get with
our intentions, the easier they are to accomplish.
After making your plans, and setting yourself up for success, remember to check back in with yourself
periodically. On your calendar, mark one day a month to reflect on what you’ve done towards your goals and
intentions. Usually when we make New Year’s resolutions, we do really well for a month. Once the
excitement of the new year has passed, we lose motivation and get caught up in other aspects of our lives. By
planning ahead and dedicating a day to check in, you will be reminded why you made these goals in the first
place and reenergize your enthusiasm.
Sometimes it can be hard to jumpstart, or restart, our plans after we’ve made them. Maybe it’s the fear that
we won’t succeed. Maybe our goals themselves seem scary. But try to get passed the fear and remind
yourself of the positivity and love you were surrounded by during the holidays at the end of 2014. Don’t let
the connections or reconnections you made slip away as the season cheers dissipate. Feeling love and
supported by those around us can have a massive impact on our wellbeing.
Good luck to you! You will do great!

New Year New Vision
A new year brings reflection of past goals and a desire for change. If
another year has slipped by and you need to take action, certain essential
oils can assist in the transformation. Whether it is for healthy lifestyle
changes, a new career, or more family time, essential oils can help you
achieve your goals in 2015. In this class you will learn how to create a
vision board and use it as your personal roadmap as well as a
transformational activity. You will incorporate key essential oils known to
assist with focus, transformation, and personal growth. These oils will also
help support the scent memory connection and turn your vision into reality
with sensory support. You will create a vision board, a diffusing blend and
an aromatherapy spray to support your transformation.

Physical and emotional issues can have deep roots in your past lives, which
can hold you back in this life. By beginning to gain clarity, healing can
come. In this class, we will discuss the amazing healing power of
remembering our past lives. A group past life regression will take place that
includes guided imagery for an energetic clearing. This will start healing
any negative karma that has built up. We will end by discussing our
experiences with each other to expand our insight. By the end of class, you
will have begun your journey and be ready to take the next steps for
reaching your full potential and dreams.

with a Burning Bowl and Labyrinth Walk
Join us on Saturday January 10th from 1:00-3:00 pm to release the energy
of 2014 with a Burning Bowl and then imagine and feel into your 2015
intentions, as you invoke your inner wisdom and call down the powers of
heaven while walking the Santa Rosa Labyrinth. You’ll go forth renewed
and blessed to being your joyous new year!
Offered: Saturday, 1/10 from 1:00-4:00pm
Investment: $15
Instructors: Sharlyn Menard and Melody LeBaron
Start this year with positivity by clearing out all of
the negative energy from 2014. Don’t just cleanse
yourself, cleanse your home as well. We carry
many products that you can use to get rid of all the
bad energy that has built up. Start by smudging
your house with white sage or cedar sage. In
between smudging, burn nag champa or lavender
incense, or light a white candle. Keeping crystals in
your house is also very helpful. Quartz, amethyst,
black tourmaline, and smoky quartz are great for
both cleansing and protection. There are plenty of
ways to protect yourself and your home and we
would love to help!

Our Great Services
Coaching
A problem in one area of your life tends to
have an effect on all areas of your life. Are
you ready to do the work to change that?
Coaching will help you explore the path
that feels appropriate for you. Once you
get to the core of the problem and are able
to heal and release it, your entire life
begins to change. Our philosophy is that
although goal-setting is an important part
of your progress, real, long-term change
only occurs when you examine and
become consciously aware of your
limiting thoughts, behaviors and patterns.
It is time to reconnect with who you really
are and find your best and highest path!
Chakra Balancing
The Chakras govern nearly every
voluntary and involuntary reaction we
experience. In order to maintain good
health, each chakra should be balanced
and able to function independently. Health
concerns can often be related to an
imbalance in the chakras which then
manifests into a physical illness. Chakra
balancing not only promotes physical
well-being, but also emotional, mental and
spiritual wellness. Whether you are in
need of healing, trying to prevent
conditions from occurring, or simply need
clarity, Chakra Balancing therapy can
help.

Spicing Things Up in 2015
Every year we say to ourselves that we’re going to expand our
horizons and try new things. Sometimes we do, but usually we
don’t. Make this year different and take initiative. Not only will you
be adding some excitement by changing things up, but you may
discover new hobbies and passions along the way. You’ll never
know until you try!
In 2015, try focusing your new adventures around health and
wellness. There are so many options that will enrich your life
physically and mentally.
Experiment with expressing yourself through creative outlets. Try
painting, drawing, or photography. Any art form that resonates with
you can open your eyes to a whole new world. For those that are
hesitant about visual art, try writing. Start by keeping a journal. You
can write anything in it, from to do lists to your dreams. Maybe
something you jot down will inspire you to write a novel or short
story!
To make things easier, we offer a ton of classes and services that can
change your life. Give a meditation or yoga class a try to tap into
yourself physically and mentally. Book a Reiki session to start
unfolding your energetic history and heal from the inside out. You
can’t go wrong with any of our classes or services!
“Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself.”

working with the cards. By the end of the first class you will be able to read a basic spread! We will cover: Quick History of Tarot –
where did this all come from?, Major Arcana – the heavy hitters, Minor Arcana – the daily tool kit, Court Cards – the motley cast of
characters, and so much more! All you need to bring is your interest, willingness to have a grand time, and a Tarot deck (Raider-Waite
based). This class is primarily for absolute beginners but is also a great class for those with experience who want to review and learn
even more.

Yin Yoga Workshop
Yin Yoga is a perfect complement to our active lifestyles, and is appropriate for all levels. This practice will develop new depths in your
postures with deeper ranges of motion and increases the flow of energy by focusing on the deeper tissues of the body. You will practice
slowing down and opening up the deep fascial layer of the body with long holds of supported poses. Fascia builds up over time and causes
stiffness, inflexibility, and decreased energy flow. It responds differently than muscle, and therefore requires this slow approach to begin to
open. You will end with a short, faster paced yoga sequence to maintain balance of the body and mind. This is a deeply meditative practice
and leaves the body and mind feeling energized, balanced and refreshed.
Saturday, 1/31 from 2:00-3:30pm
Investment: $35 Instructor: Kiva Ellison
Reiki I Certification Class
Reiki is both a spiritual practice and healing modality as it focuses on moving the universal life energy to support a healthy body, mind
and spirit. If you have any energetic imbalances or blockages due to stress, trauma, anger, fear, or illness, Reiki can help. Anyone who
is willing to learn can find the connection to Reiki energy. In this class, you will learn how to tap into that connection. You will be
amazed after your first class how quickly you can “feel” the energy flow from your hands. This class will include an overview of the
chakra system while learning hand positions that target each one. You will also be guided through a meditation as part of your own self
healing. At the end of our Reiki Level 1 Training, you will be certified to give Reiki to yourself and others. Preregistration is required
by Tuesday, 1/20. Class includes: history of Reiki, hand positions for giving Reiki to yourself and others, you first attunement, Reiki
manual, and Reiki certificate.
Saturday, 1/24 from 10:00am-3:00pm

If you are seeking to awaken your inner artist and learn a calming, meditative hobby,
Zen Doodle is the class for you! You will learn a simple drawing style that uses
