along in the pumper truck
Morning Pointe of Powell
participated for the first time in
the Powell Christmas Parade. The
staff brought a 1924 pumper
truck up from Chattanooga.
Sitting proudly in the front seat
was John Simmons, a Morning
Pointe resident who retired from
the Knoxville Fire Department with
25 years of service!
Behind the fire truck was a van
filled with Santa- hat-wearing
seniors from Morning Pointe,
waving to the crowd.

Hardworking Handyman
Always and Forever
Archie is a country boy born on a farm
in Lake City, Tenn. and is of 8 brothers
and sisters. Archie would tell people he
always knew what his next pair of
shoes and pants looked like because
his older brother was wearing them. As
a child, Archie worked the farm with
his siblings. Still a young child, Archie
had his back broken from an accident
where he lay in bed for two years
mending. His family says this incident is
what makes him part of who he is
today. Archie is a hardworking man.
First one on the job, last one to leave
type fellow. He is a perfectionist and
very crafty with his hands and mind.
Archie likes to play guitar, and has a
very good shot with a rifle. He
reminisces about driving a tractor and
turning the soil over, just as he did as a
child. On his land stands the barn he
built with his two hands and every
season you would always see a stand
of the prettiest corn in Anderson
County.
Archie made a living as a cabinet
maker and ran a cabinet business until
his retirement. He also enjoyed fishing
tournaments and won his fair share.
Today, Archie loves to fellowship and
share his faith with fellow residents at
Morning Pointe of Powell. He shares his
personal Faith and ..."Gives God the
glory in All things...". He loves helping
staff with tasks and chores and
listening to Christian music. When
children come to present songs and
praise, Archie is right there.

Family Pride-- Loves his son
Special Times!
Archie speaks with bright eyes when
he talks about his son and Grandson.
They visit frequently and he adores his
time with them. "Family is the world...
and I love them so very much".
