Two day Workshop on Recent Advances in Electrical Engineering 9th & 10th February 2015 Organized by Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Introduction: As the reserves of conventional resources are diminishing, the Indian power system has been facing a challenge to meet the increasing electricity demand with optimal system performance in-terms of technical, economic, and environment. Distributed Generation (DGs-wind, solar and fuel cell) is the best solution for the energy crisis problem as it enables power to be generated close to the quantum and location of demand. Therefore DGs are being increasingly deployed in the low voltage as well as medium voltage distribution networks to meet system demand and improve the system performance. The grid integrating issues of DGs can be solved by advanced technologies which enable viewing generation and loads as a sub-system or a Micro-Grid. The key aspect of Micro-Grid is to understand the power quality issues and protection issues. This workshop will provide brainstorming sessions on DGs grid integration issues and Renewable Energy Technologies. Objective of the Workshop: The aim of this workshop is to expose the participants on Distributed Generation, grid integrating issues and Renewable energy Technologies. At the end of the program, the participants are expected to have a fair understanding on: Distributed Generation Application of Power Electronic Converters in Renewable energy systems. Power Quality issues. Application of AI techniques in Power systems Fuzzy Logic and Neural Network toolboxes in MATLAB Resource Persons: Faculty from NITs and National Universities. Eligibility: Faculty members, Research scholars and PG students from Technical Institutions and Engineers / Scientists from Research Organizations and Industries.
