From our President Dear Members,
2015 is off and running. Our New
Year’s Eve party was enjoyed by all
who attended. Thank you to our
cooks, Art Parziale & Michele
Gasparro. A special thank you to John
Barassi, Gianfranco Sciacero, Joe
Scodella, Roland Lazzarratto, & Alex
Motta for filling up the balloons and
setting up the net for our balloon drop
at midnight. Our first birthday dinner
was chaired by Mike Rosen. The
Italian Pot Roast was cooked to
perfection by Joe Scodella, Angelo
Marchi , & Nino Petracca. Our second
Birthday Dinner was our Cioppino
Dinner, which was again chaired by
John Gotelli. The Cioppino was
delicious. Our cooks that night were
Michele Gasparro & Don Nicole. A big
thanks goes to our bartenders, wait
staff, dishwashers and ticket sellers,
who make all our dinners successful.
Thanks to all of you; We could not do
it without you!
Our 83rd anniversary dinner was a
special night. The room, decorated by
our women’s club under the direction
of President Roz Cantisani, looked
spectacular. We are blessed to have
the help and support of our fine
women’s club. Thank you to all who
gave of their time to make the room
look so beautiful. Thanks to our cooks
for the evening, Art Parziale, Michele
Gasparro & Lonnie Chase, along with
our bartenders John Ciarabellini, Sante
Missaggia & Bruno Andrina. A big
thank you to Rich Giaramita , Alan
Pricco, John Barassi and Jim Taddei for
their help and support to me in
arranging this event. Thanks also to
our MC for the evening, Buzz Hines
and Randy Spalasso for the invocation.
The evening’s high point was
introducing past president, John
Barassi, as our 2014 award of merit
recipient. Congratulations John on a
well-deserved award.
Our first Crab Feed, on February
28, is SOLD OUT. We still have room
at the March 8 crab feed. Remember
this is a pre-paid event so get your
money in ASAP. I will report on the
Bagna Cauda dinner in next month’s
article. I would like to take a moment
to thank our officers and board of
directors for the encouragement and
support they haven given to me and
the time and hard work they give to
the Fratellanza Club.
God Bless & Sempre Avanti,
Tim Tomei
From the Sunshine Committee We sent cards to our 85 and older
birthday boys, Roy David Ginochio and
Raymond Negri. I talked to Ray Negri
on his birthday. He is doing well, but
his sister Lena Biasotti, widow of
Angelo, is in hospice care now. She is
99 years old.
There were no reports of anyone
sick at the meeting, but I noted that
during the wind storm at the end of
December, a tree fell on Rich and
Peggy Umanzio¹s home in Orinda,
causing a lot of damage. Fortunately,
it was not so severe that they cannot
stay in it while repairs are made.
Ida Scodella’s sister in Italy passed
away this month. We extend our
condolences. Rich Giaramita’s sister is
ailing, also, and Rich will be visiting
her soon. The Bocce League meeting
will be February 11 to
accommodate his schedule, and we
should start playing on February 18.
Due to rising costs, the price of the
league will probably go up, possibly to
$60 (still a bargain), so if you want to
play, be prepared! Do not fill out the
amount on your check beforehand, or
bring extra cash. Remember, the
Bocce League is open to any member
of the Fratellanza, Ligure, Fratellanza
Women’s, and Ligure Ladies Club who
want to play, regardless of
experience. For more information, call
me, or come to the meeting.
Be sure to call or email me if you
have any news about our members.
We are glad to see you at the club,
but if you cannot make it, it is always
good to hear from you!
