Ambassador of China to Timor-Leste, Tian Guan Fe said the Chinese Government was ready to support the upcoming new Government to better develop this country forward. “We met with the president to talk on cooperation of the two countries’ cooperation, between Timor-Leste and China,” he said after handing over letter of credential to the President of the republic. The Korean Ambassador to Timor-Leste said the Government of Korea and its entrepreneurs were ready to support the country’s development. *Students calls on new govt to rehabilitate their school building *Televizaun Timor-Leste, February 16, 2015 language source: Tetun Students of 4th of September have called on the new Government to help rehabilitate their school building. The students made the call regarding the recent heavy rain, causing their school building flooded. “Our school building is flooded, it happens every year. We cannot take part in the learning process as all rooms are flooded, so we have to do cleanup,” a student said. *Govt to prohibit imported-used clothes as it brings virus *Televizaun Timor-Leste, February 16, 2015 language source: Tetun The Government through the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Environment (MCIA) is planning to draft a law to prohibit the exported-used clothes as it is believed to have brought virus into the country. “This year, MCIA through this directorate wants to halt this activity,” MCIA officer told the media. In response, the used clothes owners said this was the Government’s point if views, but it needed to be considered; otherwise it could impact their businesses. “Whether it is virus or not, the Government must take it into consideration as it will impact our lives,” a businessman said. *Immigration service captures Indonesian and Chinese nationals *Televizaun Timor-Leste, February 16, 2015 language source: Tetun Timor-Leste’s Immigration Service last Friday captured four foreign nationals who were found misused their social visit visas. Two Indonesians and four Chinese were captured after doing business in the country’s capital of Dili. The Immigration Service Police officer, Luis do Carmao said the police were able to capture those foreign nationals as they were informed by the communities. “It has been a week the operations ongoing, we were able to capture four illegal migrants as we are in good cooperation with the communities,” he said. *Korean Govt invites President of the Republic to visit Korea *Radio Timor-Leste, February 16, 2015 language source: Tetun The Government of South Korea invites the President of the Republic, Taur Matan Ruak (TMR) to visit Korea in April this year. The Korean Ambassador to TimorLeste made the comments after meeting with the President of the Repubic at the Palace of the President last Friday. The ambassador affirmed that the visit of the President aimed at having discussion with NGOs and Child Fund in Korea to help support future economic and social development of Timor-Leste. He added that the Korean Government would offer 900 desks and 200computers to the Government of Timor-Leste in order to be distributed to schools in the country. *Xanana halts all big projects of Govt *Independente, February 16, 2015 language source: Tetun Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao has issued a dispatch to halt all big projects of the Government, such as decentralized development project (PDD), district integrated development program (PDID) and National Plan of village development (PNDS). Xanana’s reason for canceling those projects is due to political power transference which also impacts other sectors, saying any project which was under the previous ministry has come to an end. According to the structure of the new Government, Xanana will lead the Ministry of Development Planning and Strategic Investment. Horta said it was good for the Government to close down those embassies and reduce numbers of the Government members’ overseas visit in order to save the country’s state budget. “I is good for the new government to go through this way to save the country’s state budget US $ 1 million each year,” Horta said his facebook. Those desks were directly handed over by the Korean Government delegations to the State Secretary for SEFOPE, Elidio Ximenes. Mr. Ximenes and the Korean delegations also held a meeting to discuss about future cooperation between SEFOPE and the Korean Government. “These desks were offered by the Korean Government as our liaison office Maurico asked for the Government of Korea to provide us with these desks,” he said. *MCIA inspects expired goods at Eferwin Store *Televizaun Timor-Leste, February 13, 2015 language source: Tetun The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Environment (MCIA)’s Directorate for Food and Economic Inspection yesterday held an inspection into expired goods at Eferwin Store in Pantai Kelapa. During the inspection MCIA team found numbers of food which have been expired, such as chickens, beefs and some boxes of beverages. MCIA officer said they inspected this store as they had information from the communities, saying they found expired goods in the referred stores. “We got some complaints from the communities that they found numbers of expired goods in this store. Therefore, we are here to do inspection,” she said. The owner of the store recognized that had numbers of expired goods as they had many and were not sold out. *Bureau of Meteorology calls on communities to be alert *Radio Timor-Leste, February 13, 2015 language source: Tetun Timor-Leste’s Bureau of Meteorology has called on all the communities of Timor-Leste to be alert regarding the ongoing heavy rain in order to stay away from any natural disaster. Director of Timor-Leste Bureau Meteorology, Sebastiao da Silva said the heavy rain which happened last Wednesday night was caused by the low pressure in Indian Ocean near Sumatera Island. “There is low pressure in the Indian Ocean near Sumatera Island has caused heavy rain and also a meeting by the winds from Java, Sumatera until NTB of Indonesia,” he said. *New appointed PM calls on govt members to work hard *Independete, February 13, 2015 language source: Tetun New appointed Prime Minister Rui Maria de Araujo has called on all members of the Government to work hard in order to move forward with the country’s development. MAP’s Director for Community Development, Fernando Soares said the water supply was realized as MAP was in cooperation with GIZ. Mr. Mauk Moruk made the comments during a telephone interview with STL journalist on Tuesday (10/2) regarding Xanana’s resignation. According to him, Xanana’s position of resigning from his post means that the coalition Government has collapsed or died where a new government is necessary to be set up. He added that CRM supported any decision which would be made by the President of the republic for the appointment of the new government.
