Some of you will be aware from the Church Council meeting that the proposal to the Annual Church meeting on the 26th April is that the church charity for this year should be the Karibuni Trust. This is a small charity working with the poor and disadvantaged children and families in Kenya. There is an important link with our church as one of the trustees is Karen Chalmers' father. Our link person from the group will be Nicola Lightfoot. It was agreed that we continue to support the West Cheshire Foodbank with provision of food. Ian Oulton has agreed to reinvest the £1,000 we have donated to Lend with Care. So far we have supported about 17 projects. We are starting to discuss how we could realistically be involved in the new retirement apartments by Tesco if only to help them be aware of a warm welcome at HMC. We are a small group of six and would welcome people coming to join us in our discussions and prayers. We meet about twice a year on average to coordinate our financial giving - and we are a very generous church. We do, at this juncture, need a new co-ordinator so if anyone is interested in joining us please contact either Steve Santry or Rob Wigmore. Clare Morton is going to Ethiopia on Sunday 22nd March with an acute medical and ophthalmic team for a week and she would welcome our prayers, and the occasional emails. Women’s Fellowship. The next meeting will be in The Link on Wednesday 25th March at 2.00pm. Age UK will be coming to assist us in gentle exercises. It could look a bit off-putting but on the last occasion it was quite instructive and a good laugh and plenty of hilarity!! After the meeting, over a drink and refreshments, we will have time to talk about the future of Women’s Fellowship. Look forward to seeing you there. Rob Ordination of Linda and Michaela into the Diaconal Ministry. Time is getting near to order your tickets if you want to go to Blackburn Cathedral on 28th June. The service starts at 6.30pm. Members of the DMLN, in partnership with Gill Dascombe, VicePresident of the Methodist Conference, are organising this event which will take place from Friday 5th to Sunday 7th June at Cliff College. Mental Health Matters is designed to provide training, support and advice to children and youth workers, ministers, lay employees and anyone else who wishes to learn more about mental health issues affecting members of their congregation. This year's theme will be 'Equipping Churches to Respond'. With keynotes and workshops covering mental health issues experienced by children and young people, adults and the elderly, Mental Health Matters seeks to provide essential tools which will enable members of the church to support those with mental health issues and help make the church a welcoming, inclusive, understanding and caring environment.
