SATs and ‘Stuff’ 2015 :Assessment at the end of Key Stage 2 25th March 2015 Outline of today’s meeting • • • • SATs – this year’s tests Test timetable and school arrangements The next six weeks Questions This year, your child will sit a series of Standard Assessment Tests (SATs): • 3 maths papers • 1 reading paper • 2 spelling & grammar papers Some children will also sit one or more Level 6 SAT papers: • 2 maths papers • 1 reading paper • 3 spelling & grammar papers Maths SATs Mental Maths Paper 20mins (approx.) Writing • Writing assessment is based on a portfolio of written work. • Teacher assessments must be based on - and supported by - a range of examples of independent pieces of writing. • Assessment is moderated across partner schools. • The Local Authority will also moderate some schools. Timetable School arrangements ‘SATs week’ will mostly follow the pattern practised during the ‘mock’ week: • SATs will take place in Yew classroom • Children who usually sit tests elsewhere, will continue to do so • We’ll run a free ‘SAT Breakfast Club’ from 8.15am, Monday to Thursday. The next six weeks: This week: Review of ‘mock’ SAT papers • Wk 1 & 2 - Two weeks’ holiday… …and a little revision.
