Please join us for a policy event designed to provide timely, relevant information to HIV care providers on the state of
HIV care and coverage systems in Arizona in the new ACA environment.
This activity is co-provided by the Annenberg Center for Health Sciences at Eisenhower and the American Academy of
HIV Medicine (AAHIVM) and Postgraduate Institute for Medicine, in collaboration with the Arizona AIDS Education
Training Center (AETC).

Program Overview
This event will provide the latest information on the implementation of the Affordable Care Act in the state of Arizona
and the effects on the delivery of care to HIV patients. The keynote presentation will focus on strategies for clinicians
and their practices, including sustainability issues, maximizing reimbursement opportunities, inclusion in provider
networks for insurers, contracting, alternative business models, and partnership opportunities for clinics. Additional
presentations will cover an overview of the ACA implementation nationally, and the new landscape of patient coverage
in the state, including the Insurance Exchange/Marketplace, Medicaid program, Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program, and AIDS
Drug Assistance Program (ADAP). Panelists will include State program experts and healthcare leaders and will engage the
audience in an interactive discussion with a Question & Answer period.

Target Audience
This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners,
registered nurses, pharmacists, nutritionists, social workers and case managers involved in the care of patients with HIV.
It is also designed to provide timely and relevant information to case workers, social workers, and secondary services
providers who work in non-medical fields of care of patients with HIV.
Educational Objectives
After completing this activity, participants will be able to:
1. Describe new systems of care created by the ACA - Medicaid, Ryan White, Insurance Exchange - that have been
implemented or not implemented in the state that affect aspects of HIV care delivery.
2. Identify the landscape of coverage options offered to HIV patients by the plans in the insurance exchange
including the gaps and challenges represented.
3. Identify how the Ryan White program can wrap around the Medicaid and private insurance plans to optimize
patients coverage and access to care and treatment.
4. Describe provisions of the ACA that may negatively impact the business aspects of care delivery, and create longterm sustainability issues.
5. Identify opportunities for the business aspects of care delivery under the ACA, including maximization of
reimbursement, optimal models of care, alternative business arrangements, etc.
6. Utilize resources for addressing and reporting systemic problems within the ACA implementation and various
coverage entities.
7. Provide accurate and appropriate counsel as part of the treatment team.
8. Provide appropriate care and counsel for patients and their families.

Nursing Continuing Education
Accreditation Statement: Annenberg Center for Health Sciences is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing
education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
Credit Designation: A maximum of 3.25 contact hours may be earned for successful completion of this activity.
California Board of Registered Nursing
Provider is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 13664, for 3.25 contact hours.
A statement of credit will be issued only upon receipt of a completed activity evaluation form and will be mailed to you
within three weeks.
Social Worker/Marriage Counselor/Family Therapist Continuing Education
Course meets the qualifications for up to 3.25 hours of continuing education credit for MFTs or LCSWs as required by the
California Board of Behavioral Sciences, the Postgraduate Institute for Medicine, Provider Number 5114.
Case Managers Continuing Education
This program has been pre-approved by the Commission for Case manager Certification to provide continuing education
credit to Certified Case Managers (CCMs) for 3.25 clock hours.
Pharmacist Continuing Education
Accreditation Statement: The Annenberg Center for Health Sciences at Eisenhower is accredited by the Accreditation
Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.
Credit Designation: This program has been developed according to the ACPE Criteria for Quality and is assigned ACPE
University Activity #0797-9999-15-004-L04-P. This program is designated for up to 3.25 contact hours of continuing
pharmacy education credit.
