The mission of the American Center for Elemental Music and Movement is to promote the artistic and
pedagogical possibilities of elemental music and movement. In the belief that all human beings have the
capability and need to express themselves through these media, the Center will offer educational programs and
performance opportunities for children and adults.
About the 2015 ACEMM Beacon Scholarship
This scholarship is for music educators interested in pursuing studies in elemental music and movement,
an accessible approach to music education that develops both personal musicianship and ensemble skills, and
has rich artistic rewards. Its appeal is broad, incorporating both music and movement, and reaches diverse
populations! This scholarship is intended to help music and movement educators further their studies in order
to benefit the students they teach.
The scholarship may be used for:
• Study in existing Orff Schulwerk certification courses and graduate courses
• Individual projects of study including music and movement
• Short courses or workshops in the elemental approach

In addition to this application form, please forward the following via e-mail as part of your application:
• A one to two page essay stating the rationale for the proposed use of the scholarship. Include a
brief budget, location, instructors, course of study, and if applicable, an action plan for a proposed budget.
• An itemized budget of expenses
• A resume or current vita
• Two letters of reference from a principal, supervisor, program director, colleague or cooperating
teacher. Letters must be sent by e-mail, in an attached Word document, directly from the author of the
letter to [email protected].
****Letters will not be accepted if they are sent by anyone other than the person who wrote the letter.****
