Alpha's Dance Team is doing a BBQ sauce fundraiser to raise money
for costumes and cheer uniforms. Only $10 per bottle and proceeds go to
the Dance Team. Please see Ms. Stewart or one of the Dance Team
members.

Samosas Sale: Alpha’s Grad council is having a samosas sale! Come down
to the lower foyer every Thursday at lunch until the end of the month.
This means we will be selling on April 2, 9, 16 and 23. Samosas will be 2
for $3. See you there.

Summer Courses at Burnaby Online:
Our online registration for summer courses is up and ready to go on our
website:

On Step 1 of the online registration process, students wanting to take a summer course should make sure they
choose "Summer session courses" as the Registration Type.
Courses will run July 2 - August 7, 2015. Unlike our regular courses that are self paced, our summer courses
have strict due dates for assignments/tests. Students can, and do, work ahead, if they wish.
Registration for summer courses closes on June 19, 2015. This is to allow our office staff a week to process
the hundreds of registrations that come in right before the deadline (of course, the majority of the students
wait until last minute to register). If you have a student with extenuating circumstances that hasn't registered
by this date, please contact me directly so that I can plead/beg with the powers that be to let them into the
course. Under no circumstances, though, will a student be allowed to enroll in a summer course once the course
has started.

Dancin’Stars School of the Performing Arts is looking for a work experience student who is interested in
Dance, costumes, helping out with events, and some clerical duties. Come see Ms. Perizzolo if you are interested.
Attention Grade 12s! Do you need more hours to complete your work experience? There are many volunteer
placements that are available right now to choose from and can get you started in completing your mandatory

Kiu Do Chinese School: Heritage Language Chinese school is looking for volunteers to help in many different
projects. This opportunity runs every Saturday with two different shifts here at Alpha. Come to the Career
Centre for more information.
Artspace Children’s Arts Center: Are you a mature and reliable youth looking for a fun volunteer opportunity to
gain valuable work experience? If you are a student you is interested in working with kids and teach about visual
and performing arts come to the Career Center.
BCIT Broadcast Work Experience Opportunity (Grade 11 and 12)! Any grade 11 or 12 students interested in
acquiring work experience in the field of broadcast, please come to the Career Centre ASAP, spots fill quickly so
drop in over the next day or so!
Army Reserve: For those interested in a little challenge and fun, the Army Reserve is hosting a Soldier for a
Day program in March. This program is an introduction to the role of the Canadian Forces Army Reserve both
here in Canada and around the world. It's also worth 5 hours of work experience. Students in grades 11 to 12
should see Ms. Perizzolo for more information.
