The vital Safety Server is Alstom’s standard platform for CBTC and PTC
systems wide world and includes full driverless train applications.
NEC Applications Overview
Alstom’s Vital Safety Server 2oo3 Platform centrally manages the safety-critical
elements of a PTC system. Installed in locations throughout the world, it is fieldproven on the NEC for handling rail TSR data and for providing applicable TSR
lists to trains via data radio. The Safety Server is able to vitally store, process and
deliver critical geographical and field apparatus data to trains as they progress
through the corresponding territory. The Safety Server interfaces with one or
more control centers for entry of TSR information and is updated by using a
“Select / Check / Execute” process.

• Modularized – Separate sections for Power, Processing, Redundancy
Management, and I/O.
• 2oo3 Voting System uses three separate computing channels.
• Different application compilers are used for each computing channel.
