For Immediate Release Bartlett & Co. Chairman becomes CAC Lifetime Trustee Cincinnati, OH (March 23, 2015) ‐ The Contemporary Arts Center is proud to honor Bartlett & Co. Chairman James A. Miller as a Lifetime Trustee. Miller, only the fourth person to ever receive this recognition, will be recognized at the Contemporary Arts Center’s annual Art Auction Celebration on April 11, 2015. Miller joined the Board of Trustees in 2002, served as Treasurer of the Board from 2003‐2009, President from 2009‐2012 and Chair from 2012‐2014. He has been a lifelong supporter of the Contemporary Arts Center and a much beloved member of the CAC family. According to the CAC Alice and Harris Weston Director and Chief Curator Raphaela Platow, “Jimmy is one of the most generous, deeply intelligent, humorous people I have had the pleasure to get to know. His primary contribution to the CAC is his professional expertise, financial support and great personality which have been in valuable to us and will in the future. I feel lucky and honored that I have the privilege to call Jimmy a mentor and a friend.” James A. Miller (Jimmy to those who know him) was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio and received his B.A. in English from the University of Michigan in 1971 and his M.B.A. degree from Harvard Business School. Miller joined Bartlett in 1977, first becoming president and CEO in 1993 and then becoming Chairman in 2007. In addition to serving on the Board of Trustees at Contemporary Arts Center, Miller has devoted a great deal of his time and talent to more than a half dozen other organizations and causes in the community, including Playhouse in the Park, 4C for Children and American Jewish Committee just to name a few. Miller also received the Champion for Children award in 2006 from 4c for Children, the key to the City of Cincinnati in 2008 on behalf the American Jewish Committee’s Human Relations Award and, most recently in 2014, Benefactor of the Year from the Cancer Support Community. Bartlett is one of Cincinnati’s oldest investment advisory firms, as well as one of the largest in the nation. They provide services that include high net worth investment advisory services, asset management, custom portfolios and investment education. Founded in 1898, Bartlett has grown to $3.4 billion dollars in assests managed. Founded in 1939, The Contemporary Arts Center was one of the first institutions in the U.S. exhibiting the art of our time and is one of the oldest non‐collecting institutions in the country. For more than seven decades the Contemporary Arts Center (CAC) has been exhibiting contemporary art, introducing new ideas to the community, fostering dialogue on important issues and presenting diverse artists in various media from around the world. In May 2003, the Center relocated to its first free‐standing home, the Lois & Richard Rosenthal Center for Contemporary Art, designed by award winning architect ZahaHadid. The CAC focuses on new developments in painting, sculpture, photography, architecture, performance art and new media, presenting eight to 12 exhibitions and 20 to 40 performances annually. With more than 16,000 sq. ft. of exhibition space, a dedicated black box performance space and the Sara M. and Patrica A. VanceUnMuseum, a 6,600 sq. ft. multi‐generational exhibition and education space. The CAC is supported by the individuals and business that give annually to the ArtsWave; Ohio Arts Council; City of Cincinnati and thegenerous contributions and grants of individuals, corporations and foundations.
