There are lots of fun things planned for the last full month of school. Birkes will recognize its volunteers at the VIPS Tea on May 27th at 2:30 in our library. CFISD also has their annual VIPS Appreciation Luncheon at the Berry Center on May 21st. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to be recognized. The Art Department is still needing paper towel rolls (used, cardboard only), toilet paper rolls and empty water bottles. Please send with your child or drop off at Birkes. Thanks for your support! Biz Town for our 5th graders will be May 20th and 21st. Our fantastic yearbook arrives in May. We also have our Spring Skate Night on May 28th from 6-8pm. All students need to register at the door so their teacher gets credit for their attendance. What teacher will get the honor of displaying the “Golden Skate”??? We will also be partnering with Clay’s Restaurant for Birkes’ very first Spirit Night on May 13th! Be on the lookout for more details coming home soon! Please link your Target card and your Kroger card to Birkes. Also, clip and bag (25 or 50 a bag) Box Tops and send through backpacks or drop off in the Box Tops Mailbox in the Birkes lobby. We will start submitting Community Coffee labels soon so send those in as well!!! We appreciate all your support so far this school year! We cannot do all we do without each of you! If you wish to help in some way, please get in touch with one of us. We would love to have you involved. Please submit your PTO Board Nomination form ASAP. We need volunteers and donations for the 5th grade party on June 4th. The party is scheduled from 1:00 – 3:00. Be sure to dine at any of our partner restaurants on Spirit Nights and Birkes will earn some cash!! This month we will have a special night at Clay’s Restaurant. Teachers are invited to participate. The class with the most students represented will win. Upcoming dates are: Texas Roadhouse – May 4th - dine from 5 – 8 p.m. and Kids Eat Free Clay’s Restaurant (17717 Clay Road) – May 13th – dine from 5 – 8 p.m. Chick-Fil-A – May 19th – dine from 5 – 8 p.m. Bullritos (FM 1960 at Eldridge) – May 20th all day Skate Night at Bear Creek Roller Rink – May 28th from 6 – 8 p.m. $5 per skater We are now collecting Community Coffee labels. Please submit those. They do not expire. You can drop them off in our BoxTops mailbox just inside the front door of the school or you can send them with your child. Also, be sure to link your Kroger and Target cards up to Birkes and a percentage of what you spend at these stores comes back to Birkes. Thank you for your continued support!! Tammy Wells, Spirit Cart [email protected] Volunteer (VIPS) Appreciation Tea All volunteers are invited to our annual VIPS Appreciation Tea, to be held in our Birkes Library on Wednesday, May 27 at 2:30. Volunteers who have logged in more than 100 hours this year will be presented a new library book in their honor. The 2015-2016 PTO Board will also be voted on and installed at this time. LIBRARY HELP th th May 26 – 29 (Tuesday - Friday) Anytime between 9:00 am – 2:00 pm the library needs help with inventory and shelving books, as all library books will be returned the previous week. You are more than welcome to stop by whenever you have some free time to help out. Please be sure to check in at the front desk and let them know you are there to help in the library. Our Boosterthon Fun Run was a huge success. We collected 95% of our Pledges, and with that, raised over $31,000! This will go towards our track and other wish list items. A special thank you to Joanne Detwiler, Sandy Dohallow, Sara Flores and Crystal Gore who volunteer in the workroom every single day! We appreciate all of you! There are always teacher projects to be completed and library books to shelve!
