Fees and Discounts: This session
lasts for seven (7) weeks, and the fee
is $100 for the entire session. We offer
the following discounts for classes: $10
discount to any dog adopted from the
Shelter or SPCA - OR - $10 off each dog
for two members of the same family - OR
- $10 discount for senior citizens (60 +)
(ONE discount per family per session).
Flexi Pass Classes are $90 for six classes.
See page 2 for more information.
Drop-In and Run-Thrus: No advance
sign up needed, unless specified on
Activities Calendar. Open to Club and nonClub members with experience in that
particular run-thru option. Just show up
and pay for as many runs as you would
like to do. Fees vary.
Parking: Park behind the Body Renew
Fitness building ONLY in marked parking
lines, or you MIGHT get towed. Our door
is last door in the back. Driving directions

Remember to bring a dog crate
to Agility and Rally classes!

Saturday classes run on a flex pass
system. The Flexi Pass is a prepayment
for 6 classes. The pass expires after

OBEDIENCE CLASSES
AGILITY CLASSES
Star Puppy Obedience: for puppies ages 3 to 5 months; designed
to get dog owners and their puppies off to a good start.
Fundamentals of Agility I: for dogs who have completed
Exploration of Dog Sports/Activities I and who wish to pursue
Agility training. Students must have off-leash control of their dog in
order to be eligible for this class.
Basic Obedience Flexi Pass Class: for dogs 6 months and older
with no little or no previous obedience training. Teach your dog beginner
basics like attention, sit, down, stay, come, loose leash walking – and
learn to deliver cues and rewards efficiently for solid foundation
behaviors at a beginner level.
Fundamentals of Agility II: for those students who have
completed Fundamentals I and have been recommended by their
instructor.
Beginner I Obedience: For dogs ages 6 months and up. You will learn
proper leash handling, positive behavior modification,You and your dog
will learn heeling, sits, stays, downs, coming when called, stand and
finishes
Beginning Agility: for dogs who have completed the
Fundamentals of Agility class; with instructor’s recommendation.
Dogs will be tested at the first class.
Advanced-Beginning Agility: for dogs whose instructors
recommend that they are ready to move forward from Beginning
Agility.
Beginner II Obedience: For dogs and handlers who have completed
the STAR puppy or Beginner I class who wish to continue to strengthen
basic obedience skills, work in a training environment with other dogs,
and develop stronger teamwork between handler and dog.
Novice Agility: this class will focus on introductory competition
handling and will be on the novice level of course design. Dogs
must have completed Advanced-Beginning Agility and with an
instructors approval.
Exploration of Dog Sports/Activities I: For students who wish to
refresh and continue working on their skills in obedience. There
will be an introduction to rally and agility. With the instructor’s
recommendation, students who complete this class may be able to
move on to Fundamentals of Agility, but they must have off-leash
control of their dog.
Open Agility: for dogs who are able to do all obstacles at full
height, plus 12 regular weaves. Must be actively competing and
have completed Novice Agility. This class will be at the Open/
Intermediate level.
Exploration of Dog Sports/Activities II: For handler/dog teams
who have completed Exploration of Dog Sports/Activities l. Participants
will work on the exercises for Beginner Novice Obedience. They will
also continue to work on skills important to agility, rally, therapy work,
and tricks training. Dogs with appropriate skill levels may move on
to Fundamentals of Agility or Preparation for Performance class with
instructor approval.
Advanced Agility: for dogs who are actively competing, earned
at least one title and whose instructors recommend that they are
ready to move forward from Open Agility.
Advanced Competition Agility: this class will focus on
coursework to prepare for today’s challenging Excellent
competition using actual courses from AKC trials.
Preparation for Performance Obedience: for for all those handlers
that have experienced ring stress due to fading food lures, lack of
focus, and/or environmental factors affecting the dog’s performance.
It is a prerequisite for Open Obedience class.
OTHER CLASSES
CGC/Therapy Dog Prep: (Canine Good Citizen and Therapy Dog) For
students who want to pursue the Canine Good Citizenship certificate
and/or test to have a registered therapy dog. Class exercises will
focus on requirements from the CGC and Therapy dog tests. Dogs
should have taken at least the Sub-novice obedience class to take
this class.
Open Obedience: Dogs will be working toward their CDX and must
have a CD or at least two legs on their CD.
RALLY CLASSES
Fun and Games: uses friendly competition to have you laughing and
learning together with your dog and your classmates. Learn leash
skills, sits, downs, come, leave it, and a few simple tricks to boot!
Novice Rally: Rally signs and rules will be covered, and all dogs will
be introduced to rally. The dogs should have completed at least subnovice obedience and have basic skills in obedience.
Tricks, Treibball, & Sniffs! Flexi Pass Class: A combination
class where the topic rotates weekly: For Example: Week 1 focuses
on beginning level Tricks, which teaches your dog to think and
Advanced Rally: for dogs who have completed Novice Rally and with
instructor’s recommendation. Dogs should have earned their RN.
problem solve through shaping; Week 2 teaches foundations
for Treibball, to help your dog improve responsiveness at a
distance; Week 3 introduces fun scent games for your dog to
learn independence and confidence using his nose.

Saturdays Specials: Flexi Pass Classes
Obedience • Agility • Rally
Tracking • and More!
Saturdays are special days at Blue Ridge Dog Training Club (BRDTC)! Saturdays are used for trials,
workshops and guest speakers, but we also want to continue offering instruction to the public when
these events are not scheduled.
Saturday classes run on a flexi pass system. The Flexi Pass is a prepayment for six classes.
The pass expires after six months, but can be used on ANY Saturday Class – Basic Obedience,
or Tricks.
Benefits to you:
•Never “miss” a class
•Inclement weather, trials, or guest presentations do not interrupt instruction
•No lost classes due to vacation or illness
•Instruction tailored to YOUR individual level
•The more you practice at home between lessons, the faster you move up the exercise levels
•Work at your level and get individual assistance in class where you need it
•After your six weeks are used up, purchase another Flexi Pass to continue on Saturdays; or move on
to the evening classes using traditional scheduling
•Open enrollment – start any time, no fixed start dates
•Mix and match – some obedience, some tricks
•Take advantage of the flexibility of doing BOTH, a traditional class schedule, AND a Saturday Flexi
Pass to get an occasional extra help session on Saturdays!
•Flexi Pass = six classes for $90 for non-members; six classes for $65 for BRDTC members
HOW TO ENROLL IN Flexi Pass:
1.Send in your enrollment form with vaccination records as usual
2.Get your “payment received” email
3.Email the instructor by Friday 5 pm to reserve a space: [email protected]
4.Read introductory info you will receive from instructor
5.Come to class with your dog, treats, leash – (follow instructions in the intro email)
6.Receive your pass from instructor when you arrive the first time
7.Have fun!
8.Email instructor each week to reserve a space
9.Come to class and present Flexi Pass to be signed in
10.Have fun!
11.Watch for emails regarding class dates / changes for trials / speakers/holidays!
The Saturday Class is geared towards those that would be entering Beginner or
Advanced Beginner Obedience; or Beginning or Intermediate Tricks.
