Welcome to the May newsletter. You may of noticed the team has got smaller, Pc Jill Jackson has
moved onto CID and PCSO Sanaz is pregnant and is now working in the office. At the moment there
is no one in line to replace them so our apologies if you do not see us as often as we would like but
we’re having to move a lot faster to get things done!
Motorcycle Thefts
We are still having a large amount of motorcycles stolen from all over Eccles leading to a number of
them being used on fields and parks in an anti-social manner.
Mainly they have been small mopeds and Motocross bikes.
We are fortunate to have a number of Salford Council CCTV cameras who we work with to locate and
prosecute the offenders, we also have a very good Off Road Bike Unit based at Eccles Police Station
who are very keen to stop this.
As an owner of a motorbike myself I speak from experience of the simple things that can be done to
deter thieves.
Is your bike locked to something that can’t be moved?
Is the chain covered making it difficult for bolt croppers to grip the chain?
Can you fit an anchor to the floor or wall to secure it to?
Do you use a cover on it so thieves can’t actually see what bike it is?
Is it alarmed and immobilised?
Do you have a security light on it? Thieves don’t like to be lit up they want to be away in the smallest
amount of time with no noise made and not seen.
Don’t make it easy for them to steal your pride and joy.
Enjoy riding your bike but most of all take care.

Improving your neighbourhood
Salford Street Champions are volunteers
who act as the 'eyes and ears' of a
community. They do this by reporting any
environmental issues that are affecting
neighbourhoods to the council and other
agencies. This can include Litter and flytipping, Dog fouling, Graffiti, Missed bin
collections, Pot holes, Broken street lighting,
Anti-social behaviour & Noise nuisances.
By becoming a Street Champion you can
help to improve all aspects of your local
environment, and make your communities
voice heard. You will receive regular
updates on-going help and advice,
invitation’s to meetings to discuss local
issues and meet other Street Champions, enewsletter’s, and a free welcome pack and
litter picking equipment.
