March 2015 Newsletter
Welcome back! We hope that everyone had a wonderful Spring Break and that
you were able to take in some of the wonderful sporting events that our city
had to offer during the Winter Games.
March will start us off with a very loud and busy Dinosaur week The children
will be learning interesting facts as well as some new vocabulary such as
“extinct, paleontologist” and a variety of dino names. We hopefully will be
successful with the 4 year old classes building and exploding paper mache
volcanoes
This month we will introduce the children to some familiar and not so familiar
Nursery Rhymes, using a variety of words creating patterns, rhymes and some
very silly songs. The children will able to understand what the word “rhyme” is
and we will create ways for them to come up with some rhyming words of their
own!
Our “Happiness Project” that was started last year was very successful in the 4
year classes. We saw a lot of positive words during play, an increase in
awareness of the feelings of others and an overall decrease in conflict
resolution. The Happiness Project will be introduced again this year to the 4
year old classes so stay tuned for “hearts” to be sent home with noted random
acts of kindness from your child. The three day a week 4 year class ended the
project by making their own buckets to take home and continue “filling
buckets”.
IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER:
CLASS PICTURES
W.D. West Studios will be coming to the Preschool Wednesday April
8th & Thursday April 9th to take class pictures. There will be
information package sent home the end of March. The cost is
$12.00 for a class picture as well as an individual 3/1/2 X 51/2 picture.
This is an optional service but is always nice for those ordering to
have all of their classmates there for the group picture
