Course Description:
This one day symposium will cover updates on different most clinically relevant and
practically challenging critical care topics and emerging concepts in pediatrics critical
care. It will be in the form of didactic lectures of 20 minutes duration that will be concluded by interactive question and answer of 5 minutes duration.
Targeted Audience
- All physicians who are caring for pediatric critically ill patients.
- Pediatric critical care practitioners/intensivists or fellows in training.
- Anesthesia, pediatric and emergency room residents in training.
- Nurses working in critical care area who are interested in pediatric critical care.
The Topics will be covered are:
Mechanical ventilation and related complications in Children, monitoring of patients
with Sepsis & Septic shock, fluid management and the role of ECLS in septic shock.
Management of serum glucose will be debated in pro and cons lectures brain
edema and fluid management in DKA will be discussed briefly in the endocrinology
session. 2 new sessions will be present this year include gastrointestinal critical illness and nutritional issues in PICU as well as CPR ethical and management related
issues. They are hot and unique topics in the critical care field and deserve special
attention in kids.
