Dr Richard Denniss is an economist and Executive Director of independent think tank
The Australia Institute. Richard contributes columns to The Canberra Times and Australian
Financial Review and has co-authored Affluenza, An Introduction to Australian Public Policy:
Theory and Practice, and the forthcoming Minority Policy – Rethinking Government when
Parliament Matters with Brenton Prosser.
Dr Dennis will be speaking on the recent Australian Government Intergenerational Report,
and its relevance for Tasmania, including federal financing arrangements.
Please join us for a two course meal at Hobart’s Astor Grill, with selected beverages
provided. Non-members are welcome to attend, with the AGM itself being very brief!

The Economic Society of Australia – Tasmania BranchINC
The Tasmanian Branch of the Economic Society of Australia was formed in November 1924
at a meeting convened by L.F. Giblin (Tasmanian Government Statistician) and J.B. Brigden
(Chair of Economics at the University of Tasmania) and D.B. Copland (the pioneer of
Economics at the University of Tasmania and its previous chair).
In addition to major conferences, the Society provides a program of monthly events for
members on a wide variety of topics, the annual policy forum, and the annual Giblin lecture.
Annual membership of Tasmanian Branch starts from $30 (students $15)!
