JETS Competition Freeride Team

Program Description
These teams will train upper level athletes and prepare them for IFSA/TJFS and/or USASA events on a
regional and national level. Competing is MANDATORY and therefore geared towards the athlete who is
committed to improving their skills through practice every weekend and in the competition arena.
IFSA/TJFS and/or USASA registration/competition fees as well as travel to/from events are NOT included.
Athletes will be required to choose a focus at the beginning of the season.

Big Mountain athletes will focus on competitive freeskiing through the IFSA/TJFS and have the option for
USASA Skier/Boarder-X events, if they choose.
Freestyle athletes will focus on the disciplines of Slopestyle, Rail Jam, Half Pipe and Skier/Boarder-X and
have the option for some IFSA/TJFS events, if they choose.

Attendance
Athletes are required to maintain 80% attendance throughout the season. We reserve the right to move
an athlete should their lack of attendance inhibits their ability to keep up with their original team.
Additionals
Coaches train and travel to ALL local and regional events with the team. This team will receive a schedule
of events at the start of the season and athletes will be expected to attend ALL events.
A travel fee will be applied to cover coaching for any athlete travelling to an out of state IFSA event. The
maximum is $300, however families will only be charged the actual cost should it be less.
Pre Season Training at Woodward- Boreal
9.00am – 3.00 pm Saturday’s, Sunday’s and holidays (12/28 – 12/31,
1/18 & 2/15).
50 total days of coaching including local and national USASA events, as well as TJFS inspection and
competition days.

Program Description
This team will be focusing on the athlete who is starting to show interest into the competition scene. This
is the perfect first step to the competition team. Athletes will compete in ALL the In-house JETS Games
and a minimum of one IFSA/TJFS or USASA event. Registration for IFSA/TJFS or USASA is required and not
included in the program. Coaches will recommend athletes to specific events as appropriate.

Program Description
The Jets Program offers skiers and riders ages 7 and up a hip atmosphere with an opportunity to explore
and progress on Kirkwood’s legendary terrain. Kids will develop in a team environment working with the
same coaches throughout the season. Programs are for intermediate through expert skiers and
riders. Saturday and Sunday, Saturday only, or Sunday only programs are available.
The JETS Coaches work with each skill level to provide a safe, fun, and nurturing environment for
kids. Training focuses on the “fundamentals” of skiing and riding, etiquette on mountain, camaraderie
with teammates, and much more. Teams will learn to take on the whole mountain including: cornices,
chutes, open bowls, trees, hike to terrain, powder, gates, and park. All sessions met in the Village Plaza.

Program Description
After a very successful 2014-2015 season we will be offering Mini Jets for rippers aged 5-6, again. Mini
Jets will focus on tactics designed to develop proficient all mountain skiers from an early age. Coaches
will provide a fun and safe learning environment which is key for this age group. Mini Jets will meet on
Sundays on the plaza and start at 9:30am. It is required for ALL Mini JETS to be able to load chairlifts
independently. Mini Jets will not be outfitted in a Jets jacket. With the safety of the children in mind a
vest will be mandatory. All sessions will meet in the Village unless otherwise notified.
