Robert Bosch Australia awarded overall winner of SAEA’s 2014 Awards for Mobility Engineering Excellence
The SAE-A recognised engineering innovation and excellence in the mobility
industry at the Society’s 2014 Mobility Engineering Excellence Awards
(MEEA), on the 29th of October. More than 140 of the industry’s leading
engineers attended the Award presentation dinner.
The most prestigious award of the evening; the overall winner of the
professional awards category, was presented to FAPM Member Robert Bosch
Australia for their highly innovative Automatic Emergency Braking Rear (AEBRear) product. The AEB-Rear has significant export opportunities for many
global platforms. AEB-Rear uses ultrasonic and radar sensing technologies
combined with automatic braking to reduce pedestrian injuries and fatalities as
well as unintended collisions caused when a vehicle is reversing.

Automotive Transformation Scheme Amendment Bill 2014
On 25 September 2014, the Senate referred the provisions of the Automotive
Transformation Scheme Amendment 2014 to the Senate Economics
Legislation Committee for inquiry and report by 24 November 2014.

The Australian Defence Engineering Conference will run a two-day
conference from 25-26 November as part of Engineers Australia's Convention
2014 in Melbourne. The theme for 2014 is 'the contribution of engineering to

The Navantia Australia Industry Day, a collaboration between the Victorian
Government, Australian Industry Defence Network Victoria & the Industry
Capability Network Victoria will be held on:

Student Support – Information about restoring students’
entitlement to training under the VTG
Following recent publicity in regards to Certificate III in Competitive Systems
and Practices and/or Certificate III in Warehousing Operations and Certificate
II in General Education for Adults, the Victorian Government Department of
Education and Early Childhood Development has undertaken a review of
these qualifications to determine if they had been delivered to an appropriate
standard.
Affected students will have their entitlement to training under the VTG restored
as there have been sufficient quality issues with the training they undertook
and will be provided with another opportunity to undertake further government
subsidised training.

It is no secret that the Australian car industry is winding back its operations in
anticipation of plant closures in 2017.This means that large product
engineering departments are shedding hundreds of highly qualified and
