as any other school function. Student dress and appearance is to be
neat, clean and respectful. Shoes must be worn at all times. The
principal may add additional guidelines and reserves the right to
determine what dress and appearance is appropriate for the event.
This is NOT a prom! Students will have that to look forward to in high
school. We do not want to turn students away at the door, but both the
Student Code of Conduct and the Dress Code will be enforced.
Please refer to pg. 43 of the 2014-2015 Student Handbook and
Conduct Code and pg. 3 of the students 2014-2015 Agenda. Thank
you for your cooperation.

Request for Contributions
The 8th Grade Celebration Committee continues to work hard raising funds and coordinating plans for a spectacular
evening commemorating the many accomplishments of our 8th graders in their final year as middle school students.
GMS 8th grade students are invited to “Clipper Kingdom” on June 6, 2015; with a live DJ, age-appropriate music,
dancing, ping pong, basketball, beat the goalie, trivia games, castle catapult, carnival games, Just Dance Disney,
temporary tattoos, selfie stations, food, beverages, prizes (must be present to collect), and other fun activities
throughout the night.
As you can imagine, this event is costly and your donations would go a long way in helping us honor our 304 8th grade
students! Contributions can include merchandise, gift cards, food/beverage items, services, and of course, cash. Please
consider contacting friends who are business managers/owners or donating your own services to students (e.g., spa,
hair salon, guitar/piano lesson, etc.).
This support will allow us to:
1) sponsor the attendance of students whose families are in financial difficulties
2) provide T-shirts for all 8th grade students
3) raffle off numerous door prizes
4) offset the many costs associated with this event
In order to collect and sort donations, purchase gifts, and prepare for the event in time, we ask that you please respond to
our request for funds and donation items and services by May 1, 2015.
Please see the following page for the donation form. If you choose to donate, please fill out the attached form and return
with your donation.
GMS PTA would like to thank you in advance for all donations. If you have any questions feel free to contact either
Sandra DiGangi at [email protected] or (757) 604-7331 or

Food Allergy
There will be several varieties of food and drink available at the event. We know that there are
many different allergies that some students may suffer from and the 8th Grade Celebration
Committee will label the food the best that they can to avoid any allergic reactions. It is
important that students take precautions as well when they are making their food choices for the
evening. Thank you!
There will be several selfie stations set up around Clipper Kingdom but we will also
have a photographer there to take professional pictures. The drama department from
the High School will be loaning us a full size Cinderella Carriage that will be used for
the pictures. Students will bring information home that evening on how to view and
purchase those pictures. Picture prices start at $1.99.
Thank you for coming!!
Every student that purchases a ticket will receive a Grafton Goody Bag. (see Pictures below)
Students that purchase their tickets during pre-sale ticket sales will ensure that they receive their
gift on the night of the event.
