We have many dancers attending double-header feises this coming weekend – best of luck to our dancers heading to Feis at the Beach in Wildwood, NJ and McGrath in Woodbridge, VA! We need your help to run our 2nd annual school feis in May! Read on to find out more about our upcoming spring events and Summer class offerings! Congrats to our Worlds Dancers! We are so proud of Bridget and Megan Reese who represented Hurley at the 2015 World Championships in Montreal, CA. Both girls danced with beautiful grace and joy and had a fantastic experience. Well-done girls! Sunday, May 24th: 2nd Annual Hurley School Feis @ PG County Equestrian Center! Monday, May 25th: NO CLASSES Saturday, June 6th: Eighth Annual Hurley School Ceili Friday, June 12th: Last day of regular classes THE HURLEY EXAMINER SPRING 2015 St. Patrick’s Day Highlights This year Hurley dancers performed in over 15 local community shows, along with the DC Parade! DC St. Patrick’s Day Parade Despite a rainy day for the Rio Washingtonian Parade, the weather cleared up nicely for a sunny day in the 50’s in Washington DC on Sunday! Hurley showed well in the parade, got a visit from Nat’s mascot TR on the float, and the party at McGinty’s afterwards was great fun! Thanks to all who came out! Leisure World Performance About 50 dancers from Hurley performed at Leisure World on St. Patrick’s Day for over 300 attendees in the audience. The group was very appreciative and it was a wonderful experience for our dancers! Also a great opportunity for parents to watch! Walter Reed National Military Medical Center At the end of March, dancers performed for patients and staff in the America Building at Walter Reed Bethesda. This is the third time our school has been asked back for the Irish American Heritage Celebration, and our dancers filled the room with the joy and culture of Irish dance. Afterwards dancers received personalized certificates of recognition from the staff. Thank you to our nation’s military for all you do to keep us safe! Parish Dinners It wouldn’t be St. Patrick’s Day without multiple parish dinner performances! Here is a picture from one of our favorite performances – St. Mary’s in Barnesville – a show we have been doing for 6 years now! 2 THE HURLEY EXAMINER SPRING 2015 2nd Annual Hurley School Feis Our 2nd Annual Feis is set for Sunday, May 24th. This is the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. The feis will again be held at the PG County Equestrian Center (aka The Show Place Arena). Registrations have already opened, and we have over 900 dancers attending so far with more signing up each day. 14 adjudicators and 9 musicians from all over the country will attend and our dancer cap is 1100 – if you have not signed your dancer up please do so by May 1st to avoid a late fee! Registration is open on www.feisweb.com. We had a very successful inaugural feis last year, and thanks to the time and effort from our committee and parents, we are preparing to hold the same standard this year! I am so happy that we are able to offer this feis opportunity for our school. Thanks to all who help to make it happen!
