Dear Parents and Students,
What a fantastic Talent Show that was put on by the Student Council, students, and High
School staff last night. The students showcased their superb talent and the production
quality was fantastic! Thank you to parents for your attendance and support for this event.
A reminder to everyone that this Sunday, March 30th is Shouter Baptist Day.
Today is the end of Quarter 3 for Middle and High School students. Also, after-school activity session II ends today. The school will be closed for the Easter break and the first day
back at school is Monday, April 13th.
Thank you to all parents for your assistance with keeping the student pick-up and drop-off
cycle moving smoothly and safely. During very busy periods in the morning and afternoon
officers may ask cars stopped in front of the school to move back into the circuit after 2
minutes. This practice helps keep the line moving in front of the school.
The uniform policy for ISPS is again attached for your perusal. Please do utilize the holiday
period to ensure that your child has in his/her possession all of the required components
for the complete school uniform. In order to help with the enforcement of this policy after
the break, we will begin sending home students who arrive out of uniform so that they may
come back to school correctly dressed. Thank you in advance for your assistance in helping us to maintain the uniform policy at our premier International School.
Have a safe and relaxing holiday
See you at school,
Mark Lee

DRESS CODE AND GUIDELINES
2014-2015 ACADEMIC YEAR
ISPS has a dress code and all students PK-12 wear a uniform. Uniforms in each section of the school differ slightly yet it is
expected that all students convey school pride and spirit in how they look. In Middle and High School dress should reflect a
business atmosphere and boys should be clean shaven. Teachers and administrators will enforce reasonable standards of
cleanliness and neatness and therefore the school reserves the right to ask students to remove distracting jewelry, make up
or nail polish and/or cut long hair or change hair style if it is not reflective of a business atmosphere.

That bluelight from your screen causes eyestrain and keeps you awake at night.
Here are some solutions.

This app adjusts your screen color to reduce the blue light and helps your eyes to
relax, making it easier for you to fall asleep.
▽ Screen Filter with Natural Color
This app's filter has a natural color so you can read news, emails and websites clearly.
This app doesn't dim the screen but adjusts the screen color to reduce blue light which causes strain on your eyes.

f.lux makes your computer screen look like the room you're in, all the time.
When the sun sets, it makes your computer look like your indoor lights. In
the morning, it makes things look like sunlight again.
Tell f.lux what kind of lighting you have, and where you live. Then forget
about it. f.lux will do the rest, automatically.

How do I find or change settings?
Settings are located in a menu to the left of your system clock. In Windows, this is at the bottom right corner of your screen.
On a Mac, it's at the upper right. NOTE: f.lux does not appear in your dock, settings, or your alt-tab menu. Currently settings

Dear Parents,
Primary Years Programme(PYP)
Now that you have had the opportunity to attend student-led conferences last week, you should have a better
understanding of the work your child has completed during term two. In addition to the conferences, you received
your child's report card, and we ask that you celebrate
his/her strengths and focus on the areas that require improvement. If you have any concerns or questions about
your child's report, please schedule a meeting to see the
classroom teacher.
Exhibition is the culmination of the Primary Years Program, and
the students have created the central idea: Self-expression may
lead to conflicts and limitations due to interpretation. There are
12 groups working on varied aspects of the unit. Even though the
fifth grade class teachers are guiding the students on their unit,
there are 17 mentors working with the students. Each student
meets with his/her mentor and receives feedback on his/her
study. Exhibition will be held on May 8th.
It has been a hectic term and we thank all our parents for
their support on field trips, and events at the school. We
look forward to continued success as the final term has
started.
We thank all the students, parents, staff and even the
dogs for attending the walkathon last Saturday. To date
our students have collected a whopping $ 21,946. All
funds collected will be sent to Christ Convalescent home
and Cyril Ross Nursery.
Students in grades 3-5 would have received their challenge word list for WordMasters. They are expected to
play games with the words. For example, charades is an
excellent way to act out the words and have someone
guess the answer.
ERB Writing was completed this week, and we will receive
the results when we return after the break. Those results
will be sent out after the teachers review their classes.
We wish Sebastian Clemant, Julian Waldisberg and Samuel and Fernanda Morales all the best in their new school,
and we thank the families for choosing ISPS.
At the end of the PYP, our students are well-prepared to make
the transition to the Middle Years Program (MYP).

SCIENCE CORNER
The end of quarter 3 was a busy one for the Science department as we prepare to host our ‘Science Fest”. This is when
the Science classes take the opportunity to showcase internally what they have being doing over the year to other
Science classes from different school levels. It is always a wonderful sight to see the high and middle school students
interact and also to present to the Elementary School students. This will take place on April 21st, 22nd and 23rd.
What Pre-K is Learning About Science
We read books about
magnets...
Students at the ‘Science Table’ exploring magnets
In this unit, Pre-K students
investigated the phenomenon
of magnetism. They began by
exploring different types of
magnets on our science table
during center time. They then
tested objects to see what
would stick to the magnets and
what would not. They watched
Brain Pop Jr. and Bill Nye “the
Science Guy” videos on magnetism to find out all about
magnets.
After doing lots of investigations and reading books about
magnets students conducted
experiments to learn about

what types of materials stick to
magnets and all about magnetic poles.
Firstly, students turned their
attention to answering the
question “Do magnets stick to
all types of metals?” We learnt
that magnets will stick to objects made of iron and steel.
Secondly, we used
‘doughnut’ magnets to explore
magnetic poles. We learnt that
like poles attract while opposite poles repel.
Wishing you all the best for
the Easter vacation. Until next
term.

ROTARY GAMES 2015
Caimans Represent the West at the Rotary Games
On Tuesday 24th March two of
our ISPS students returned to the
track to represent the West A in
the 2015 Rotary games. This
game displayed the incredible
talents of the top T&T athletes in
their age groups.
Our students displayed a high
level of competiveness and
confidence. In the Under-11 girls
150m flat, Perrylee Christie ran a
blistering race but had to settle
for a close 4th place. She then
returned to anchor the Under-11
girls’ team in the 4x100m relay in
which she assisted them in
holding on to the 2nd place.
Christopher Thorp was
outstanding in the Under-13 boys
400m flat. The race got off to a
quick start and he was able to
stay with the pack for the first
150m. As they approached the
200m, the pack began to settle
with runners trying to take the
lead. The last 100m brought a lot
of excitement as it was a run of
strength to the finish line.
Christopher muscled his way past
two of his competitors to earn
himself the 3rd place medal.
To both our ISPS student-athletes
a heart-filled congratulations and
thank you for displaying the true
attitudes of an IB student.

Congratulations to all our winners and performers.
The performances were varied, magnificent and delightful. Our school sure has a ton
of talent.
A big hearty congratulations to STUCCO for a very professional and
enjoyable show last night led by the ever imaginative and creative
team of Kathrine and Anna. They certainly stepped up the show a
few notches last night. The sound and lighting were terrific. The MC's

I SCREAM KINDNESS … Pass it on!
Today our students were treated to a sweet act of kindness sponsored by ReThink, an organisation that promotes life transforming perspectives.
ReThink Ice Cream Vans loaded with hundreds of free lollies arrived to share this act of joyful
kindness with ISPS students.
But there was a purpose to the random act of kindness. Each of us is asked to pay it forward. Simply find someone else and
share any act of kindness with them. It could be a good deed, an encouraging word, a gift, yes, even a lolly and ask them to
pass on the gesture as well. Imagine how far these acts of kindness can travel?
Some of us were also given Kindness Cards with which we will share our acts of generosity, by asking those who receive a
card to pass it on in turn.
Happiness is only real when shared.
If you wish to become a ReThink volunteer or to see many of their initiatives log on to rethink.co.tt or visit our Facebook
page.
