BOOK CLUB
Looking for something to read over spring break and love mysteries then stop by the library to pick up this month’s

CINDERELLA’S CLOSET
Cinderella’s Closet is a prom boutique where high school girls can “shop” hundreds of gorgeous gowns for the
prom dress of their dreams. Dresses are current styles and in good condition. Visit www.ywcaelgin.org or
www.elginjsb.org for shopping rules. Must provide valid high school ID or proof of enrollment. See attached flyer.
COLLEGE VISITS
Come to the Counseling office to sign up for an upcoming Spring College Visits. Now is the time for Juniors to take
advantage of hearing about some great schools before you plan which schools you would like to visit over the
summer. Seniors, this is your last opportunity to take advantage of the schools visiting you before you make your
final plans on where you will be studying next year!

ELECTION JUDGES

Student Election Judges are needed for the April 7 elections in McHenry County. In order to participate, you must
be a junior/senior with at least a 3.0 GPA, a citizen of the U.S. and a resident of McHenry County. Students will be
paid $165.00 for completing mandatory training and working the Election Day. Packets can be found on the door
outside of the Social Studies Office which is across from room 209. Please see Ms. Kersten in Social Studies if you
have any questions.
FOREIGN LANGUAGE WEEK
Congratulations to this year’s Foreign Language Week poster contest winners! 1st place Nadia Zange, 2nd place
Matthew Kastritis, 3rd place Molly Banwart. Winners can claim their prizes in the Main Office.
INTERNSHIP IN WEST DUNDEE DISTRICT OFFICE
Senator McConnaughay is offering an intern program in the West Dundee district office. This internship is open for
rising Juniors and Seniors in High School and college students. It is available for 4 sessions throughout the year and
is flexible as far as times/dates. This internship is unpaid, however the experience is well worth the time. She is
interested in students with a variety of interests including communications, event planning, research, criminal law
as well as political science. This is a unique opportunity for students to see first hand how government
operates. Depending on the timing, there is an opportunity to also shadow her in Springfield. Interested parties

2015-16 INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
Reminder: Your completed Internship Program application is due in the Counseling Office by THIS Thursday at

3:00pm. You should also be working on setting up your job shadow, to be completed by April 17 . Be sure to
email Mr. Baldwin at [email protected] if you need any assistance or have any questions.
LIBRARY
Going out of town for spring break? Have someone take a picture of you reading a book in the wild and submit it to
win coupons donated by Buffalo Wild Wings. Not going anywhere for spring break, you can still participate! Just
find a unique place to take a photo. Pick up the contest rules in the library!
LOST AND FOUND
If you have lost an item please make sure to check the Lost and Found in Student Services. Otherwise, all items
will be donated during Spring Break.
MISS ILLINOIS TEEN USA PEGEANT
Any female interested in the Miss Illinois Teen USA pageant can apply now on this website
www.missillinoisusa.com. The pageant will be held at the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie,
Illinois on September 4-7, 2015. Contestants must be between the ages of 14 and 18 to participate.
PARKING PASSES
Parking passes are available again to JUNIORS AND SENIORS ONLY!!! 26 SPOTS AVAILABLE SO ACT FAST. The cost
is $30.00 along with a zero balance on your account is required. Come to Student Services to pick up a parking
application that must be filled out completely. The following items must be turned in: parking application, driver’s
license, proof of auto insurance, and $30.00 is required.
PROM **IMPORTANT INFORMATION**
Prom Procedure Information Packets are available in Student Services. Prom will be held at the Seville in

Streamwood from 6:30pm until 11:30pm on Friday, May 1 . Online ticket sales will begin the week of March 30

through April 6 . Face to face ticket sales will be Thursday, April 9th during lunch periods. Guest forms are due no

later than April 3 by 3:00pm. The cost of a ticket is $85.00. See attached PROM PROCEDURES TO FOLLOW

SCHOLARSHIPS
Barbara Hinkle Memorial Scholarship - Mr. Hinkle has started a scholarship to honor his wife, Barbara who was a
kindergarten teacher in the district from 1977 to 2003. This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a senior girl who
is interested in being an elementary school teacher, has participated in at least 2 school activities, and has
performed community service. The application is available in the Counseling Office and is due by April 1, 2015.
Jacobs Athletic Boosters: Attention Senior Athletes! It’s that time of the year and the Jacobs Athletic Boosters is
offering $1000 scholarships to 2 female athletes and 2 male athletes. Stop by the Guidance Office for an
application. All you need to do is completely fill out the application, get one coach’s letter of recommendation and
write a personal essay of how playing sports has shaped your life. Applications are due in the Guidance Office by

Friday, April 10 .
Aspiring Fashion Professional Scholarship: This is a $1,000 scholarship that will be awarded to students that are
interested in pursuing a fashion degree at an accredited post-secondary school or college. Interested students can

on it. Deadline is June 1, 2015.
Aspiring Animation Professional: Scholarship Program offering high school seniors the opportunity to win a $1,000
scholarship. This will be awarded to students that are interested in pursuing an animation career path at an
accredited post-secondary school or college. Interested students can visit our website:
