Effort Church Glass Slipper Scholarship
Description: The Glass Slipper is a ministry of Effort Baptist Church in Fluvanna County that
started in 2013. Its mission is to help girls overcome financial obstacles related to their high
school prom experience by collecting new and gently-worn formal dresses and accessories and
offering those items at nominal prices. The objective is to create a loving, caring and respectful
environment for each young woman to shop for a special prom dress of her choice. The
proceeds from the prom dress shopping events fund this scholarship for a female student in
good standing from a single parent home attending Piedmont Virginia Community College or a
trade school after graduation.
Amount of Scholarship: $750.00
Eligibility Criteria:
1) FCHS graduating female student in good standing with a minimum of a 2.0 (C) average
2) Currently living in a single parent home
3) Will be attending Piedmont Virginia Community College or a trade school full-time in the
Summer or Fall, 2015 after graduation. (Scholarship award will be sent directly to Piedmont or
trade school.)
Application Requirements:
Write an essay not to exceed 1 page that describes:
1) A challenge you have faced and overcome in the past.
2) Your future life goals.
3) Please list only your FCHS Student ID Number on the essay.
Application Deadline: April 10, 2015 (due to Ms. Lewis in Guidance)
