ALGONQUIN AREA PUBLIC LIBRARY
Summer Volunteer forms are now available! Looking for volunteer hours for NHS or college? The Library has a
variety of opportunities available in June and July. Volunteer forms are due May 1 and can be picked up in the
Jacobs Media Center or at the Library. Contact Jennifer Jazwinski, Young Adult Librarian with questions at 847-4583153 or [email protected].
AVID
Attention seniors! Are you staying in the area next year? Are you interested in working with people and
kids? AVID tutor positions will be available next year at our middle and high schools in the district. This is a great
opportunity to work on Tuesdays and Thursdays, around your school or other work schedules. If you are
interested apply by going to the d300 website and go to Departments, Human Resources, Employment
Opportunities, Extra Pay, and then Hourly. See Mrs. Van Horn with questions.
BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS
We are currently looking for high school students who are interested in mentoring elementary or middle school
students next year. Volunteers meet weekly for ONE hour after school to help with homework, play games, or
make crafts. You must have your own transportation to the school site. Applications are available in the Counseling

Office and have a deadline of May 8 .
BOYS TENNIS
On Senior Night, the boys tennis team swept the Dundee-Crown Chargers 7-0. Seniors Erik Esswein, Eric Ritzel,
Kevin Searle, and Matt Toomire all contributed to the win.
COUNSELING
Summertime Employment Opportunity: Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center is seeking lifeguards to work at their
Crystal Lake and Huntley locations this summer! To be eligible, you must be a certified lifeguard and at least 16
years of age. An application must be submitted online. Please stop by the Counseling Office to pick up more
information about the certification training available in the area and to pick up the online link for the job
application.

ESPY Awards Banquet

Attention Senior Athletes! This is your last chance to get your RSVP in for the 3 Annual Eagle Sports Performance
of the Year or ESPY Awards Banquet. If you are planning on attending, you must let Mrs. Peas in the Athletics
Department know NO LATER THAN Wednesday, May 6th.
The Jacobs Booster Club will cover the cost of dinner for the athletes. Parents and siblings are encouraged to
attend at a cost of $10.00 per person. The banquet will be held at Jacobs High School in the Competition Gym on

Thursday, May 13 starting at 6:00 pm. Varsity Baseball is the only sport with an event that day and players are
encouraged to join the banquet following the completion of their game.
LIBRARY
Seniors- today will be the last day to check out textbooks and any library materials. Everything will be due on

Friday, May 8 . You will be billed for items that you don’t return and you will not be able to get your
transcripts. Stop by the library to see what you have checked out.
MUSIC INDUSTRY
Hey you! Music Industry Club's Spring Rock the Mic is on Tuesday, May 5th behind the Algonquin Area Public
Library. Come on down to our last show of the year, starting at 4pm, to hear amazing music acts, eat some candy,
and win some prizes!

If you plan on having your picture taken at Prom, picture order forms are now available in student services.
If you are attending prom, you will need to report back to Jacobs High School at 5:00PM. When you arrive, please
go to the competition gym, find your bus number posted on the wall, and check in with your chaperone. If you
forgot or do not know your bus or table assignment, a list will be posted in the athletic entrance windows. Buses
will be leaving promptly at 5:45. You will return to Jacobs around 12:15. Please bring your school ID.

Algonquin Garden Club: The deadline for the Algonquin Garden Club scholarship has been extended to May 11 .
Applications are available in the Counseling Office.
Jim Krenz Scholarship: The Carpentersville Rotary Club Jim Krenz scholarship is now available in the Counseling

Aspiring Fashion Professional Scholarship: This is a $1,000 scholarship that will be awarded to students that are
interested in pursuing a fashion degree at an accredited post-secondary school or college. Interested students can

on it. Deadline is June 1, 2015.
Aspiring Animation Professional: Scholarship Program offering high school seniors the opportunity to win a $1,000
scholarship. This will be awarded to students that are interested in pursuing an animation career path at an
accredited post-secondary school or college. Interested students can visit our website:
