Summer Collection; The priest’s Summer Collection will be taken up this weekend. This is one of the four priest’s collections during the year. The weekly envelope collection is used exclusively for the upkeep of parish property and the running expenses of the parish. Many thanks to all who donate so generously throughout the year to our parish. Tax Rebate Forms: The CHY2 tax rebate forms for 2014 have been issued. If you pay income tax as PAYE or as Self Employed, and you donate to the parish using the weekly envelope, and receive the form you are asked to please fill it out and return it. Each year the amount raised through these rebates is deposited in order to help meet the costs of future maintenance and repair work on our churches. Last year the parish received €14,947.43 from this scheme. Family Focus Week at Knock Shrine. From Monday 13 July to Saturday 18 July there will be a special week focusing on family at Knock Shrine with four events each day. Morning and evening talks at 12.00 noon and 8.30pm will address family matters, e.g dealing with addiction, bereavement, celebrating faith, supporting carers, etc. Two family prayer times will take place at 3.00pm and 7.00pm. Knock Shrine Candlelight Procession: The Candlelight Rosary Procession every Thursday throughout the months of June, July & August. Lough Derg is a place of welcome where no one is judged and everyone is equal. You can begin your three Day Pilgrimage on any day until 13 August. No need to book. Daily boats to the Island from 10.30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. until 13 August. Golden Jubilee 1965 - 2015 Congratulations and best wishes to Fr. Austin Fergus, Cahir, who celebrated the Golden Jubilee of his ordination with a thanksgiving Mass in Mayo Abbey. Ad multos annos! Louisburgh / Killeen Senior Citizens Annual Outing will take place on Friday 17 July. Knock Counselling Centre: provides a confidential Drop-In listening service offering an opportunity to discuss personal issues in a confidential environment. Louisburgh Area Twinning Eleven teenagers from Moelan-sur-Mer with their two supervisors will arrive here on Monday 06 July to spend ten days with families in the area. During their time in Louisburgh they will participate in various activities organised by the twinning committee. Some adults from Moelan will visit Louisburgh during the same ten days on a private holiday. Amongst them the Major of Moelan, Marcel Le Penec. On Tuesday evening 14 July at 7.00pm we will unveil the 'name stone' at the entrance to Louisburgh on the Westport road with the additional wording 'Twinned with Moelan-sur-Mer, Brittany, France.' Minister Michael Ring has kindly accepted an invitation to perform this ceremony. We are doing this to celebrate the French national holiday, Bastille Day. A celebration party will follow in The Derrylahan. All welcome, free of charge. G.A.A. Cúl Camp takes place at Louisburgh Pitch from this Monday 06 July until 10 July from 10.00 am to 2.00 pm. Local History: • Louisburgh Foróige are currently working with, the Louisburgh Killeen Heritage committee, to try and recover/record as most history as possible on Louisburgh Foróige. Some of “what we know so far” is posted on our website, www.LouisburghForoige.com. Were you involved in Louisburgh Foróige, ether as a leader, an officer, or indeed a teen member at any stage EVER? All our contact details are on our website. • Fishing and Boat Building: There is reputed to have been two boat building yards in the Kilgeever Parish in the 19th century? The largest basking shark in the British Isles was caught by a British lugger between Thallabawn and Island? Murrisk Development Association are collecting the history of the old fishing industry in Murrisk and the general Clew Bay area and would love to hear from you if you have any information, stories, photographs or anything to do with the fishing industry pre 1960.
