Synopsis The Donor Relations Coordinator is responsible for developing and maintaining financial resources for MCCA programs. The CDR Team is responsible for raising MCCA budget. This position reports to the MCC Alberta Executive Director. Qualifications excellent communication skills: verbal, written, listening strong organizational skills strong computer skills commitment to teamwork and flexibility post-secondary education preferred familiarity with MCC Alberta programs and constituency an asset Assignment Description The Donor Relations Coordinator works as part of a team in communicating information about MCC Alberta with churches, other constituents, donors, the media and the general public. This position is a member of the MCC Alberta CDR Team, and a member of the MCC Communications & Donor Relations Network, along with the Communications Coordinator. Specific Duties & Responsibilities A. Communications represent MCCA at Communications & Donor Relations Network meetings along with Communications Coordinator work with staff to develop in-house multimedia and social media capacity co-coordinate bi-monthly CDR Team meetings lead devotionals at staff meetings as required B. Donor Relations generate writing and editing of appeal letters to send to Alberta donors (communications will produce and distribute) work with Executive Director to maintain consistent communication with existing donors, and identify new donors (individuals, congregations, other groups) work with CDR team to increase donor base and donor participation together with Executive Director, prepare receipt and thank you letters & cards for donors, groups & foundations deliver presentations at churches and various events develop and/or implement new donor, corporate giving, and planned giving strategies develop and/or implement a corporate sponsorship program for events assist with event planning, promotion and media events meet and develop relationships with individual donors coordinate thank you calls to donors support regional donor relations volunteers General ensure that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is exemplified in the performance of all job responsibilities and through personal example attend and be actively involved in a local congregation model non-violent peacemaking in the workplace and community through respectful interactions & work relationships Challenges Normal work week hours are Monday-Friday 8:30-4:30 pm. Much of the time is spent sitting down. There is an infrequent need to move or lift light articles. There is considerable stress especially when planning and running fundraising events and pressure to meet budget. This position requires some long days/year as well as several overnight commitments yearly. This position requires a capacity to work with people who have different interests, skills and understandings of the work of MCC. It can be stressful, but also very energizing. It requires a sense of personal balance and maturity in working together with a team, with donors and church groups and other groups who have varying levels of interest. Location Description Calgary is situated on the banks of the Bow River, nestled in the foothills of the Alberta Rocky Mountains. With a regional population of over 1 million, Calgary is Alberta’s largest city. Its rich heritage is rooted in agriculture, oil and gas, and technology. Calgary is an educational centre, offering a large number of opportunities for education through the University of Calgary, Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, Mount Royal University, and various Christian postsecondary institutions. Calgary is a young, vibrant community with over 68% of the population under age 45. A rich mixture of cultural and recreational activities is available within the city and within a one hour drive. Calgary boasts a large area dedicated to urban parks that are interconnected with bicycling and walking trails.
