Meet One of Our Student Life Team Members, Sonia Reising
As the coordinator of Multicultural Affairs at MCC, Sonia works with students on a daily
basis to promote diversity and enhance their cultural awareness. She also specializes in
connecting students with resources and tools to help them succeed in college and beyond.
The mother of two with one more on the way, Sonia was a first-generation college student
and graduated from MCC herself. She knows how important it is to be involved and
feel connected in college, and she encourages her students to take on leadership roles
whenever possible.

A few thoughts from
“For me, the biggest reward is seeing the transformation in students. Often
when they first come here, they’re kind of shy and unsure, but by the time
they graduate or transfer, their confidence level, their leadership skills and
their overall maturity level has really flourished. To be able to serve in that
mentor role is so gratifying.”
Thanks to employees like Sonia, students who come
to MCC can count on that personal touch and a
friendly face when they need it most. They learn very
quickly that they can count on her to guide them
down the path of academic and personal success.
As a resident, a wife, a mom and an MCC employee,
Sonia is just like you. She wants to raise a family, have
a successful career, and take pride in her work every
day. She’s made MCC a big part of those goals, and
we feel lucky she did!
