2015 CERTIFICATION RENEWAL CREDIT RECORD Continuing Education courses/programs must provide learning opportunities that improve skills and knowledge based on latest information and technology in the dental field. Certified Members are required to submit proof of 12 continuing education credits annually (by December 31st) to renew their certification credential. Official documentation from the company or organization that presents the seminar is required for credits to be approved. As the Certifying Body for Ontario dental assistants, ODAA reserves the right to award credits based solely on this credit record and the qualifications of the presenter. Should you have any questions about credits, please contact the ODAA office CODE DESCRIPTION CREDITS NOTES AND MAXIMUMS 1 ODAA Continuing Education Meetings 5 Late arrivals and those who leave early will not receive 5 credits 2 In-office Career Related Seminar, Lunch & Learn, Dentalfest 1 Maximum of 3 per year (Staff meetings are not eligible for credits) 3 4 5 Internet Courses WHMIS Education Course 2-4 hours Including CPR & First Aid Recertification 1 1 3 Maximum of 5 per year 6 7 5 8 8 Education Course full day 5-8 hours Education Course 2 full days or more/Conference or Convention Secondary School/College/University Course 9 10 11 12 ODAA Home Study Program Written Report on Health/Dental Video ODAA Journal Post Test/Survey Volunteer Work within the Dental Community 5 3 1 1-5 13 Personal Wellness (Stress Management etc) 1-3 8 Semester or Full Year Courses, Health, Business, English, Science, Computer Science courses eligible for credits Maximum 1 per year, 500 words Not based on hours and must be dental related.
