Social Justice (Part 1): Creating Change through Social Justice
2 parts—must attend both)
Learn how to examine current issues through a “social justice lens” and apply four basic principles of social
justice to help create a more just society for our youth.

Social Justice (Part 2) - Focus on the School to Prison Pipeline
2 parts—must attend both)
This workshop will examine school discipline data trends and their impact on educational outcomes;
,explore effective discipline policies, practices, and alternatives; and provide attendees with the necessary
tools to implement successful strategies within their schools and communities.

Dr. Farrell—Market-Based Reform
The purpose of this presentation is to present a current update on the relationships between PARCC,
Superintendent selection, Opt-Out, Achieve NJ (Teacher Evaluation), the push for charter and voucher
schools, and the bi-partisan advocacy in efforts to dismantle and privatize public education in NJ and the
nation. The rationale for the escalating attacks on NJEA and selected locals will also be explored and
discussed.

Red Cross First Aid
This workshop will show attendees what to do in certain emergency situations, how to keep a cool head,
and react appropriately to the situation. The purpose of the course is to teach untrained bystanders how
to perform hands-only CPR and what to do in emergencies. (P.D. credits)
Special Education Today
Learn about the changes in special education in New Jersey as a result of the 2004 reauthorization of the
Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA). Topics of discussion will include; processes and procedures, IEP
development, discipline, highly qualified special educators and paraprofessionals, etc.
