Executive Medical Director Quality & Patient Safety Closing Date: April 30/15 The Executive Medical Director will build and support a culture of patient and care-team safety, and clinical effectiveness, where the patient and family are at the centre of clinical system design. This role is the ‘face’ of quality and patient safety for physicians practicing at Fraser Health and exemplifies behaviors that build a culture of engagement, coalitions and networks, and championing clinical practice improvements. The Executive Medical Director works collaboratively with two Executive Directors - Clinical Performance and Management, and Clinical Quality and Patient and Family Centered Care (CNO). This triad will lead the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of clinical performance measures and outcomes, including risks to patient safety, mitigation plans, patient relations and feedback mechanisms with the overall goal of reducing patient harm. In this role, you will identify and implement mechanisms to proactively identify areas for practice, policy or structural change, with particular focus on physicians. Your collaboratively work will cross the continuum of care through hospitals and community settings. This will be a contract position. Key to success in this position will be: Demonstrated leadership to move forward complex organization change across health service programs to support broad transformation objectives. Demonstrated ability to interact with and lead the broader physician community. Demonstrated ability as an effective consensus builder and work through influence rather than formal authority.
