PICS Mega Job Fair and B.C. Small Business Expo Announced

Surrey- Progressive Intercultural Community Services Society (PICS) is delighted to
announce that their annual Mega Job Fair and B.C. Small Business Expo 2015 aimed at
helping thousands looking for stability in an uncertain job market, will now be presented
as one combined event for the benefit of the entire community.
This mega event will be on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Aria Banquet Hall and
Convention Centre in Surrey.
“In an unsure economy where people have various expectations about how they could
better their employment prospects, PICS Mega Job Fair and B.C. Small Business Expo
will serve a dual purpose. It will help both job seekers as well as provide excellent
opportunities for small businesses to identify, utilize and promote their business
opportunities,” said Mr. Charan Gill, CEO of Progressive Intercultural Community
Services (PICS) Society.
With a generous grant of $20,000 Vancity Credit Union has agreed to be the title
sponsors of the event.
“Our values-based banking model is focused on building communities that are socially,
economically and environmentally sustainable,” said Mr. Jag Gill, Regional Manager,
Community Business at Vancity Credit Union. “We know small business is at the core of
helping to stimulate the local economy and support organizations such as PICS Mega
Job Fair and B.C. Small Business Expo who are making an impact in the community by
helping to create employment and business opportunities.”
“Vancity has always helped PICS fulfill its mandate of serving the community and we
are grateful to Vancity for rising to the occasion by helping us with the title sponsorship
grant of $20,000,” said Mr. Satbir Singh Cheema, Director, Employment Programs and
Planning at PICS.
PICS is a registered, non-profit, multiservice, community based service provider, which
has been working in Surrey, Delta, Vancouver, White Rock, Langley, and beyond since
1987.
PICS programs are delivered from five locations in the Lower Mainland by over 120
personnel and about 100 volunteers.
PICS has previously organized seven mega job fairs which have been hugely
successful. More than 100 exhibitors got a chance to showcase their companies at
these job fairs giving unprecedented exposure to job seekers. PICS first B.C. Small
Business Expo in 2014 saw the participation of approximately 50 businesses.
