The Province of Reggio Calabria is preparing a project proposal to be presented in the framework of the JUST/2014/RDAP/AG/HARM call for proposals, with deadline on the 6th of June, on the issues of “Prevention, information and combating violence against women”. General objective of the project proposal will be combating and preventing gender‐based violence related to ill‐treatment and abuse against women and particularly against harmful practices such as the so‐called "murders of honor”. The project will specifically aim at promoting the creation, both in men and women, of a real wide‐spread awareness of equal rights and encouraging social change in those Countries, where these harmful practices are more common. The foreseen actions will be: ‐ Mutual learning, dialogue, cooperation activities; ‐ Awareness raising activities, information and dissemination. ‐ Exchange of best practice between different EU countries. Expected Results: ‐ Citizens informed and sensitized on the topic ‐ An open sharing of ideas ‐ New partnerships on the topic Target groups: Direct: Women victims of violence and/or harmful practices. Indirect: citizens involved in social Budget Not less than 75,000 Euros (co‐financing: 80%) The Province is looking for at least 3 interested partners coming from EU Countries, and preferably from: Portugal, Spain, Greece, Cyprus. It would be appreciated the interest from other Local Authorities and from NGOs active in the field, but also from Universities, Research Studies and Foundations with background action on the topic.
