The weather report stated that we had just endured eleven weekends of falling snow in MA. As I drove up to church on Easter morning, I could see that snow was no longer visible on the front lawn of QPCC. Our beautiful “Circle of Gratitude” was clear and visible including the beautiful, bold anchor etched in granite in the center of the circle. Benjamin Mafera Director of Music and Choirs Susan Egan Moderator Muriel M. Forbush Treasurer Janice Chandler Registrar Eileen Donaldson Clerk Adam McGhee Director of Youth Ministries It seemed fitting that the anchor – a symbol of HOPE in the Christian community – would be fully visible on Easter Sunday morning. The ANCHOR has been an established, accepted symbol of our faith since the first century. Its use is connected to the scripture passage from Hebrews 6: 19, “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.” (NIV) When the storms of life assail us, we remember that Jesus is our anchor. For people who live and worship in proximity to the sea, the ANCHOR is a suitable reminder that Jesus is our hope. We are not adrift; we are not alone. “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.” Enjoy the springtime; be receptive to new beginnings! Ann G. Suzedell, Pastor Janice M. We also have a tentative speaker for Mission Sunday in October. Many thanks go to all the people who helped either by giving money or participating in Loaves and Fishes. Below is a picture of all who helped. This includes, Adam McGhee. Lizzy Suzedell, Joe Suzedell, Anthony Thornhill, Jessica Sweeney, Daniel Sweeney, Gene Suzedell, Rob Kyller, Hannah Kyller, Cid and Ann Aloquina Linda Hamilton, Maggie Gosselin, MaryAnn Mc Mahon, Geri Melanson, Sharon Anderson and Carol Johnston. We did QPCC proud. If I omitted anyone, please let me know so I can add you name to next months report. Carol Mc Ghee will be going off the committee this year, but says she would like to help with special projects. We appreciate Carol’s steadfast support and thank her for all she does for QPCC. After the Annual Meeting we will meet to elect a chair and welcome new members to the committee. Grace and Peace, Carol Johnston, Chair. Buildings and Grounds To all committees. Recently several exterior doors were found to be unlocked on Monday, apparently they were left this way after our Sunday service. Normally the Buildings and Grounds Assistant (Dave Frye) will go around after Sunday service and check the doors. This particular Sunday Dave was not here due to illness so the doors did not get checked. However it should be the responsibility of every committee member if you are present after church service and among the last to leave to either check the doors or ask if someone if they would. The Ushers should be the primary responsible people to ensure the doors are locked, however they may have stand-ins that are not familiar with the duties. So the bottom line is that everyone should check the doors, if you find them unlocked then report it or lock the door. Most doors do not require a key to lock them, the side door near Dunkin Donuts is an exception where that has to be locked from the office. Your help is appreciated in helping to keep our church safe. Thanks. PS: this also applies to any lights, if they are not motion detector controlled (I.E. Social Hall, kitchen). Donation of Tools The Building and Grounds Committee would like to thank Catherina Brancaccio for the donation of hand tools that belonged to her late husband Guy. The tools will make repairs in the church easier and save the church from having to purchase these items. Guy’s tools have already been used several times for repairs and adjustments in and around the church. Guy hasn’t been with us for a while, but there are several members of the Building and Grounds Committee who fondly remember and miss him, including myself. We shared many ideas and conversations during Coffee Hour. And while Guy had serious health issues he could still be positive and manage a smile. Thanks Catherina and Guy. To make this all happen there are many opportunities to help with the preparation. First of all we need teapots, three tiered plates, and small plates for each table. If you have any of these and you don’t mind sharing please see someone at the big blue Q after church on Sunday. We also need help with table set up following worship on the day of the tea. The kitchen is also a place where there is a lot of activity. Let us know if you would like to help, there are plenty of jobs for all. So invite your friends and family, buy your tickets soon as space is limited. The concert, organized by Bulent Guneralp, will not disappoint. Steve Kim, who was our keyboardist a few years ago, will return to delight us with his talents. So find your spring hat, adorn it with some beautiful flowers and bring your friends to high tea on May, 31 at QPCC!!! We’ll be expecting you.
