BROXTOWE BOROUGH
COUNCIL ELECTIONS
Your Labour Candidates in Kimberley
Thursday 7 May 2015
Cllr Richard Robinson
Cllr Sue Cooper
Cllr Andy Cooper
Working hard for you all year
round in Kimberley
Andy, Sue and Richard are hugely excited about the
future of Kimberley. We want to continue working
with you in order to bring jobs, investment and new
opportunities to our local community.
We know that there are massive challenges ahead in
terms of housing, regenerating our town centre, fixing our
roads, tackling traffic congestion, alleviating the issues of
loneliness and bringing new jobs to the area, to name
but a few.
We are confident, though, that by working together with
you we can build a better Kimberley.
These are some of our achievements working together with local residents:
New play equipment for youngsters at Flixton Road play area.
Sue Cooper, assisted by Andy and Richard campaigned to keep
a bus route running along Maws Lane and Hardy Street when
the number 27 was withdrawn by Trent Barton last year. Whilst
Trent Barton refused to reconsider, Sue organised local
residents and contacted the local newspaper. There is now a
service running along this route, provided by the County Council,
which goes out to Eastwood and Selston.
Led a strong, successful campaign to get a feasibility study for a tram extension out to Kimberley.
The study is now taking place and will report back shortly on its findings.
Leading the campaign to bring a brand new cinema to our area.
This is in addition to our casework, helping individuals in the area.
This is what we are working on with you for the future
Swingate Action Plan
Hardy Street, Maws
Boulevard Action Plan
We have had lots of feedback from residents
who are fed up with being stuck in Swingate
when there is congestion near Sainsbury’s.
We want to work with Broxtowe Borough
Council, Nottinghamshire County Council
and local residents to bring long-term traffic
improvements to Kimberley.
Lane
and
Cliff
We want to see major improvements for local
residents blighted by speeding traffic, parking
and congestion. Again, we will work with
Broxtowe Borough Council, the County
Council and local residents to make some
long overdue improvements.
Housing
We recognise the urgent need for affordable
housing, but also realise that it is vitally
important to ensure that brownfield sites
receive preference over greenfield sites. A
Green Belt Boundary Review consultation
has just been concluded, where residents
could give their views on proposed green belt
boundary changes.
What difference does having Labour
Councillors in Kimberley actually mean?
“I am very reassured to know that we have
such hard working and dedicated people
who are prepared to put their time into
making Kimberley more prosperous.
I
know just how hard Andy, Sue and Richard
work behind the scenes.”
