Yoga in the Park It’s time again for sunset salutations. Join RidgeGate, South Suburban Parks and Recreation and the Lone Tree Recreation Center for a free Yoga in the Park class in Belvedere Park, at the corner of RidgeGate Circle and Belvedere Lane. Bring your own yoga mat, or one will be provided for you. In case of heavy rain or lightning, class will be cancelled. No yoga experience is necessary. These hikes are led by professional naturalists from SSPRD, and offer insight and education into the natural ecosystems within the open space at RidgeGate, while offering a chance to get some fresh air and exercise. Performances range from bluegrass to jazz, and everything in between. Tickets are priced from $15-20 for a spot on the lawn, or $20-25 for a reserved seat. The stars are out this summer! The Buddy Holly Experience Walk Concerts Enjoy this series of summertime concerts out on the grass with free live music, food trucks and activities. It’s all happening in Prairie Sky Park, courtesy of the South Suburban Parks and Recreation District. Take a walk on the one-mile paved path around the park, grab something to eat at a food truck and enjoy the summer sounds. This year, enjoy vendors, entertainers and art activities from 5-6pm, with live music starting at 6 and continuing until 8pm. Activities include geocaching classes with treasure hunts, summer evening storytelling sessions around the campfire, outdoor archery classes and more. Tour Historic Schweiger Ranch As part of this year’s Discover Lone Tree festival, the weekend before Labor Day, RidgeGate is offering a free guided tour of the historic Schweiger Ranch home, barn and outbuildings. Register for the free tour on Sunday, September 6 from 1-3pm by visiting www.ridgegate.com/events.aspx (space is limited), or simply visit the ranch between 1-5pm any Saturday or Sunday this summer to tour this preserved frontier-era gem at your own pace. ! ridgegate.com
