Just four years ago, we were moving into the parsonage with a 6 month old baby who was going to need several surgeries in order for her body to function properly. You welcomed us in with open arms. We have been through incredible celebrations together and we have cried together. We have served together. We have loved together. We have been the recipients of God’s grace together. We will always remember our time together with you and give thanks to God for the many ways you have loved us, challenged us and encouraged us. We are grateful for you! You are invited to send them cards celebrating his baptism and also in support of all that lies ahead as Deanna bravely fights ALS. Mitchell is living with his father. Deanna Bland's address is 602 Peachtree Drive, Maryville, TN 37801 Missions & Outreach Needs 2015 Hands-On Mission Project: Zimbabwe The Maryville District has been asked to put together 400 Food Buckets for the 2015 Holston Annual Conference Hands-On Mission Project for the people of Zimbabwe. Throughout the month of May, we will be collecting certain items each week to ensure that we can fill complete buckets with all requested items. Additionally, each bucket you choose to sponsor needs to include a five dollar donation to cover the packing and shipping costs. Checks and cash should be given to St. Mark’s UMC and designated to the “Hands-On Project”. May 3: 1 box Splenda/Sucralose (50ct. or less) May 10: 1 4-5lb. Bag sugar & 1-2lb. Bag dried beans May 17: 1 box old-fashioned oats (18oz or less) & 1-2lb. Bag rice May 24: 1 bottle cooking oil (48oz or less) & 1 box powdered milk (10oz or less) May 31: 1-4-5lb. Bag self-rising flour LCAC News As you do your regular shopping, you are invited to pick up an item or two for the Louisville Christian Assistance Center and say a prayer for the folks who will receive it! Simple Idea… Many of us travel for work or vacation. As you stay in a motel/hotel, you are invited to pick up the complimentary hygiene items and bring them back for the LCAC. May Wish List: Canned Beans (Navy, Pinto or Black), peanut butter, and tooth paste Additional LCAC Opportunities Everyone who shops at Kroger can now choose LCAC as their Community Rewards recipient as Kroger makes donations to qualifying non-profit organizations. LCAC has just been approved by Kroger to participate in their Community Rewards Program! It is very easy to sign up. If you have a Kroger Plus card, log into your account, click on Community, click on Enroll Now then enter the first three letters of your favorite nonprofit (Lou). Below are additional opportunities for service at the LCAC. Please see Gloria Bickers or Katie Morgan to volunteer. Events Singing Sunday, May 31! Our singing 5th Sunday Service on May 31 will feature our own St. Mark’s Choir and Soloists. Our special guests will the First United Methodist Youth Choir of Cookeville, TN. Please plan to stay for the cookout served in the fellowship hall following the service where the UMM will furnished grilled chicken and various sides. The UMW – Irene Prater Circle & Circle of Joy will provide homemade desserts. All donations will go to support the Louisville Christian Assistance Center! Going Away Party for the Smithey Family Please mark your calendars and plan to attend the special going away party for Pastor Becky and her family on June 2, 2015. More details will be provided by email and announced in the bulletin when available. Messengers Choir The St. Mark’s Messengers Choir will be singing for us on Mother’s Day, May 10. The first practice will be Sunday, May 3 at 6:15pm. More practices will be determined. Youth News Youth Wednesday Night Fellowship On Wednesdays, at 6pm, the youth will gather for fellowship and study as they look at how God is working in the midst of their life experiences. Volunteers and helpers are always needed. Youth Sunday School The Youth are in the midst of a video curriculum series. We are in need of a teacher(s) and helpers for this class each week. If you will volunteer, please sign up on the bulletin board. TWEENS Sunday School Credo Confirmation This class will be taught by Pastor Becky on Sunday mornings at 9:30am upstairs. Class is open to children 10 years of age and older. Volunteers are needed to serve as helpers each week. Please sign up on the bulletin board. United Methodist Women Ministries of St Mark’s St. Mark’s UMC now has one UMW Group with two circles within! The Irene Prater Circle meets the first Wednesday of each month at 10:00am in the Library followed by refreshments/light lunch. His Kids Choir The His Kids Choir will be taking a break while Mrs. Cathy recuperates from her surgery. However, we are still singing during Sunday School. Come and join us! The “Circle of Joy” will meet the third Thursday of every other month. The next meeting will be May 21, 6:30pm, located at Jean Shutt’s home. All women are invited to attend. Special Thanks to Tracy Imaging & the St. Mark’s Choir On Wednesday, April 22, Jim’s Piano Service in Maryville, TN came and tuned both of our pianos. This service was paid for by the Choir with proceeds from the Easter Cantata dvds made by Tracy Imaging.
