Yo Soy la Vid Verdadera
Estimados Hermanos y Amigos de San Juan Bautista,
¡Cristo ha Resucitado; ¡En verdad ha
Resucitado! Este domingo, el Buen Pastor
explica otra verdad sobre la nueva vida que
tenemos como hijos e hijas de Dios a través
de nuestro Bautismo:
“Yo soy la vid verdadera... Permanezcan
en mí, como yo permanezco en ustedes. Un
sarmiento no puede dar fruto por sí mismo si
no permanece unido a la vid; tampoco
ustedes pueden producir fruto si no
permanecen en mí. Yo soy la vid , y ustedes
los sarmientos.”
Al igual que necesitamos escuchar la voz
del Buen Pastor, para que podamos seguirlo
hacia la plenitud de la vida, así también
debemos permanecer conectados íntimamente
con el Señor Jesús, como el sarmiento a la vid.
La imagen de la vid, acentúa la necesidad de
nuestra unión con El, o en otras palabras, una relación
personal con Jesús, de lo contrario no tenemos vida. Si no
tenemos una relación con el Señor — si no le
conocemos, no le amamos y no le seguimos — NO
tendremos VIDA. NO hay felicidad verdadera y NO hay
paz, aparte de Aquel que declara “YO SOY la vid
verdadera.”
El Señor Resucitado nos ha dado la Iglesia, su Rebaño,
como un medio para estar conectados a la Vid Verdadera,
así como nos da los Sacramentos, la Sagrada Escritura, la
vida de los santos, y las enseñanzas de la Iglesia. Preservar
y profundizar esta relación con la Vid Verdadera, esta
conexión, debe ser nuestra prioridad principal.
De esta manera, reconocemos y vivimos esta verdad.
Cada año nuestras familias presentan aproximadamente 100
niños para el Bautismo, a fin de que puedan ser parte de la
Vid Verdadera, Jesucristo, y compartir Su vida. Cristo
enfatiza la necesidad de nutrir esta Nueva Vida,
diciendo: “Si no comen la carne del Hijo del Hombre y no
beben su sangre, no tendrán vida en ustedes.” (Juan 6:53).
Este fin de semana, 53 de nuestros niños hicieron
exactamente lo mismo, mientras que por primera vez
recibieron el Cuerpo y la Sangre Sagrada de Cristo a
través de su Primera Comunión.
La Santa Eucaristía sirve como un medio indispensable
para nutrir, fortalecer y profundizar nuestra relación con el
Señor. Si deseamos permanecer en Cristo y producir el
fruto del amor y la santidad, debemos nutrir y alimentar
nuestra relación con el Señor, que es el “Pan Vivo bajado
del cielo.” En dos semanas nuestra parroquia tendrá la
oportunidad de adorar al Señor en la Santa Eucaristía
asistiendo a nuestra Devoción Eucarística de las Cuarenta
Horas. Por favor, planee desde ahora pasar tiempo con el
Señor Resucitado.

I Am the True Vine
Dear People and Friends of San Juan Bautista,
Christ is Risen; Truly He is Risen!
This Sunday, the Good Shepherd explains
another Truth about the New Life we have
as God’s sons and daughters through our
Baptism:
“I am the true vine. . . Remain in me,
as I remain in you. Just as a branch
cannot bear fruit on its own unless it
remains on the vine, so neither can you
unless you remain in me. I am the vine,
you are the branches.”
Just as we need to heed the voice of the
Good Shepherd so that we may follow him
to the fullness of life, so too must we
always remain intimately connected to the
Lord Jesus like a branch to the vine. The
image of the vine emphasizes this necessity
of our connected-ness with Him, or in other
words a personal relationship with Jesus, otherwise we
have NO life. If we have no relationship with the
Lord—if we do not know Him, love Him, and follow
Him—we have NO LIFE. There is NO true happiness
and NO peace apart from the One who declares “I AM
the true vine.”
The Risen Lord has given us the Church itself, his
Flock, as a means to be connected to the True Vine, as
well as giving us the Sacraments, Sacred Scripture, the
lives of the saints, and Church teaching. Preserving and
deepening this relationship with the True Vine, this
connected-ness, must be our top priority.
On one level, we know and live this truth. Each year
our families present about 100 children for Baptism, so
they can be grafted onto the True Vine, Jesus Christ, and
share His life. Christ emphasizes the need to nurture this
New Life, saying: “unless you eat the flesh of the Son
of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within
you.”(John 6:53) This weekend, 53 of our children do
exactly that for their first time as they receive Christ’s
Sacred Body and Precious Blood in their First Holy
Communion.
The Holy Eucharist serves as an essential way of
nourishing, strengthening, and deepening our
relationship with the Lord. If we desire to remain in
Christ and produce the fruit of love and holiness, we
must nurture and nourish this relationship with the Lord,
who is the “Living Bread come down from heaven.” In
two weeks our parish will have the opportunity to adore
the Lord in the Eucharist in our Forty Hours Eucharistic
Devotions. Please plan now to spend time with our Risen
Lord.

parroquia estará nuevamente encargada de
servir la Cena de la Comunidad para familias
necesitadas. Todas aquellas personas que nos
puedan ayudar, deben reportarse a la Cafetería
de la Iglesia Santa María entre las 3 y 5 PM.

Este Martes 5 de Mayo y el próximo Domingo 10 de
Mayo serán los últimos días de clases de Catecismo
por este año.

Tuesday, May 5th and Sunday, May 10th will be the last
days for CCD Classes for this year.

En nuestro Centro Pre-Escolar San Juan Bautista nuestra
misión es trabajar junto con los padres de niños de 2 a 5 años,
para proporcionar la mejor educación posible para sus hijos/as.
Estamos orgullosos de decir que tenemos 30 niños/as que
asisten a nuestra Escuela; esto ha sido una bendición para
nosotros.
En este momento tenemos 1 espacio disponibles a
tiempo completo o varios de tiempo parcial para niños de
2-5 años. Las horas de la escuela son de 6:00 AM—5:30 PM
de lunes a viernes durante todo el año. Aceptamos pagos de
CCIS y también ofrecemos asistencia financiera. Ofrecemos

SAN JUAN BAUTISTA LEARNING CENTER
At San Juan Bautista Pre-School, our mission is to work
closely with parents of children ages 2–5 years old, to provide
the best possible education for their young children. We are
proud to say that we have 30 children attending our Center, and
this has been a blessing to us.
We currently have 1 full-time or several part-time spaces
available for children 2-5 years. Our School is open year round
from 6:00 AM to 5:30 PM., Monday through Friday. We accept
CCIS and also offer financial assistance. Our program offers
breakfast, lunch and snack! For more information feel free to

Our last meeting of the year for My Kid’s Going To College

SPRING OPEN HOUSE: All are welcome

May 7 at 9:30 a.m.
WGAL’S Joe Calhoun will emcee “Rock the Church,”
May 15, 7 p.m., featuring the music groups from the four
parishes that support Resurrection Catholic School: St.
Mary, St. Joseph, St. Anthony and San Juan Bautista. The
performance will be in St. Anthony’s church and includes
a special appearance by the school choir, the Resurrection
Singing Saints. The event is free though donations may be
offered.

Baptismal Preparation – 2 Sessions required
Before an infant or a child under 7 years of age can be
baptized, the parents must attend the Parents’ Class for
Baptism, which is held the 2nd Saturday of each month @
9:00AM. Then, and only then, the parents with the godparents
attend Baptism Preparation Session II on the 4th Sat. of the
month @ 9:00AM. Parents must register at the parish office.
May 9th is the next date for Session I.
