AKC National Owner-Handled Series Sunday, April 26 The AKC National Owner-Handled Series is a non-titling competition for dogs that are exhibited by their owners who are not professional handlers. To be eligible to enter, exhibitors must declare their dog is AKC Owner-Handler eligible at the time of entry using the check box on the entry form. All dogs that are owner-handled and are not exhibited by professional handlers meet the requirements for this competition. Dogs co-owned by a professional handler or members of their household are eligible as long as the professional handler or household member does not exhibit the dog during eligible competition. Definition Professional Handler: Persons who 1) have represented themselves as handling dogs for pay within the last 5 years, 2) belong or have belonged to a professional handlers’s association or 3) have distributed rate cards meet AKC’s definition of a professional handler and therefore may not enter in this competition. Please note: Dogs must be handled throughout the competition by an eligible owner of record. Professional handlers, household members and assistants to current professional handlers may not exhibit the dog in any breed competition during the entire show. Owner-Handled Best of Breed will be selected from the dogs that are eligible to compete in the Best of Breed competition including Winners Dog, Winners Bitch and undefeated winners of the non-regular classes. Dogs declared eligible will be identified by an asterisk in the show catalog. Ineligible entries will be removed from competition. There is no additional cost but exhibitors must indicate on the entry that they are eligible for NOHS.
