INTENDED AUDIENCE
This program is designed for the professional
nurse who desires to update/validate their
knowledge base in the care of the pediatric
trauma patient. Both the advanced level nurse
and the beginning practitioner will benefit from
the information presented at this educational
activity. Content areas are selected from the
continuum of care for the trauma victim, rather
than focusing exclusively on a particular area of
nursing care. This selection of topics provides
the participant with a broad view of aspects of
trauma care and treatment. Content hours
provided for this program can assist the nurse
to meet yearly trauma education requirements
in the care of the pediatric trauma victim.
LECTURE OBJECTIVES
At the completion of this course, the
participants should be able to:
• discuss interventions that can reduce
the incidence of traumatic injuries in
the pediatric patient.
• identify best practices for treatment for
selected types of traumatic injury.
• discuss prevention and early
identification of complications of
trauma injury in the pediatric trauma
patient.
