1 if he's a ‫כהן‬, she eats ‫תרומה‬
(a) ‫מה"ת‬, she should eat ‫ תרומה‬from moment of ‫ אירוסין‬following v. 4
(b) reason for not feeding her ‫ תרומה‬at ‫אירוסין‬
(i) ‫עולא‬: she may feed her brothers and sisters at home
1. challenge: even after 12 months same concern applies
a. answer: at that point, she has her own spot for food (the ‫ בעל‬feeds her)
2. challenge: if a ‫ כהן‬is working at a ‫'ישראל‬s house, same concern
a. answer: they're feeding him, they wouldn't eat his food
(ii) ‫ר' שמואל בר רב יהודה‬: due to ‫( סימפון‬negating ‫ – )קידושין‬if he finds something about her that would
uproot ‫)קידושין‬
1. challenge: then an ‫ עבד כהן‬shouldn't eat – he may find a ‫מום‬
a. answer: if it's obvious, he won't buy him; if it's not, why would he care
b. additionally: if he's an armed robber or wanted, there's a ‫ ;קול‬caveat emptor applies
(iii) split the difference:
1. if the husband accepted her "warts and all" – only ‫'עולא‬s concern applies
2. if the father handed her over to the ‫ – שלוחי הבעל‬only ‫ סימפון‬applies
2 ‫ – ר"ט‬he gives her all ‫תרומה‬
3 ‫ – ר"ע‬1/2 ‫חולין‬, 1/2 ‫תרומה‬
(a) ‫אביי‬: dispute only applies to
(i) ‫בת כהן לכהן‬, but ‫בת כהן לישראל‬, all agree 1/2 ‫חולין‬, 1/2 ‫תרומה‬
(ii) our case (‫ ארוסה‬after 12 months), not ‫( נשואה‬fed in father's house) – all agree 50/50
(b) additional opinions in ‫ברייתא‬
(i) ‫ – ר' יהודה בן בתירא‬twice as much ‫ תרומה‬as ‫ – רשב"ג( חולין‬inverse; 1/3 ‫תרומה‬, 2/3 ‫)חולין‬
(ii) ‫ – ר' יהודה‬all ‫ תרומה‬which she can sell for ‫;ר"ט =~( חולין‬give her enough ‫ תרומה‬to sell for ‫ מזונות‬of ‫)חולין‬
4 ‫ יבם‬doesn't feed ‫ – תרומה‬v. 4; she is not ‫קנין כספו‬
(a) even if part of the time was waiting for the ‫ בעל‬and part for the ‫יבם‬, no ‫תרומה‬
ii ‫ – משנה אחרונה‬no ‫ תרומה‬until she marries
1 Reason: ‫סימפון‬
(a) Challenge: this works for ‫עולא‬, who said that the original limitation was not due to ‫סימפון‬
(i) However: ‫ ר' שמואל‬- why does ‫ סימפון‬first impose no ‫ אכילה‬for an ‫ארוסה‬, then ‫משנה אחרונה‬
(ii) Answer: ‫משנה אחרונה‬: ‫ בדיקה‬done by his ‫ קרובות‬isn't sufficient until he sees for himself
