‫הנדון‪ :‬הגשת הצעות מחקר לתוכנית המשותפת של הטכניון ואוניברסיטת ג'ונס הופקינס‬
‫מצ"ב קול קורא להגשת הצעות מחקר משותפות לחוקרים משתי האוניברסיטאות‪ .‬השנה יחולקו מספר‬
‫מענקים בסך ‪ $40,000‬לקבוצת מחקר ‪ .‬המענק הוא לשנה אחת‪.‬‬
‫מטרת התוכנית לעודד שיתוף פעולה בין המוסדות‪ .‬שיתוף פעולה מדעי בתחומי הרפואה והנדסה‬
‫ביו‪-‬רפואית‪ ,‬שיביא להמשך גיוס כספים תחרותיים‪.‬‬

‫הבקשות תובאנה בפני ועדת הערכה המשותפת של אוניברסיטת הופקינס והפקולטה לרפואה‪ ,‬אשר‬
‫תדרג את הבקשות בהתאם לחוות הדעת שיתקבלו ותעביר את המלצותיה באמצעות מנהל התוכנית‬
‫בטכניון לאישור המשנה לנשיא למחקר‪ .‬תשובות לחוקרים תינתנה עד יוני ‪.2015‬‬
‫בהתאם לנוהל מחקרים יהיה על חבר הסגל להגיש למשנה לנשיא למחקר דו"ח שנתי על התקדמות‬
‫המחקר‪ ,‬פרסומים‪ ,‬כנסים וכיו"ב‪ .‬הדו"ח יוגש באנגלית בסוף שנת המחקר‪ ,‬תוך ציון הבעת תודה לתורם‪.‬‬

Joint Johns Hopkins University-Technion Program for the Biomedical Sciences and
Biomedical Engineering
Call for proposals on collaborative research projects
The Johns Hopkins-Technion program was founded in April 2000 and inaugurated on Sept.
11, 2001 to promote scientific collaboration between the institutions within the fields of
medical sciences and biomedical engineering. The funding provided is designed to allow
these collaborations to develop sufficient preliminary data to allow them to provide for
continuing collaboration through independent funding (NIH, NSF) within 2 years. The
program has funded 2-3 projects a year over the past 10 years as well as supporting the
exchange of students between the two institutions and three meetings (two in Baltimore and
one in Haifa) where the joint projects were presented. The goal of the program is to fund
excellent biomedical research and therefore projects in any area of biomedical research will
be considered.
Funding
The program will fund 4 projects per year at the level of $40,000 per year with the funds
designated for the Technion researcher and to be used at his or her discretion within the
limitations described immediately below.
Grant funds may be used for supplies, permanent or consumable materials, or salaries of
laboratory staff, as per the customary regulations that apply to the management of grants
received from Technion institutional funds. Funds may be used for one trip to Johns
Hopkins University by the Technion researcher.
Eligibility
A project must have a Hopkins and a Technion PI in the fields of biomedical sciences and
biomedical engineering with the research interests as noted above. A primary determinant
of funding will be the demonstration that the collaboration is real and that there is a high
likelihood that the research program will be able to attain independent funding within 2 years.

-2Proposals
Proposals should be a maximum of 5 pages (not including CV and budgets) and submitted
electronically as a single PDF document:
1. CV of PIs at the two institutions, in NIH format, listing a max of 15 recent publications as
well as current and recent funding
2. Background of the proposed collaboration (1 page)
3. Specific aims and detailed proposed methods for the envisioned project (3 pages)
4. Detailed projected contribution of each PI and plans for collaboration
5. Budget
NOTE: Funding for a second year will only be made if the PIs can demonstrate the
collaboration is functional and that there is a HIGH likelihood that independent external
funding will be achieved.
Submission of Proposals
Proposals should be submitted electronically only (in English) to the Technion Office of the
Executive Vice President for Research [email protected], by March April 15, 2015
Decisions on funding will be made by June 1, 2015. Funding will begin on or after
July 1, 2015.
