osrednjeslovensko regijo. Na
površini približno 78,5 km2 živi
v 32-ih naseljih preko 15.000
prebivalcev. Gospodarska in
topografska raznolikost sega od
vaških do industrijskih naselij in
od hribovskih do ravninskih.
The Medvode municipality is
located in the central Slovenian
region and extends from the
Trboje Lake and the remains of
the Old Castle of Smlednik in the
northeast across the rims of the
Šmarna gora and Grmada hills
to the Medanski Hill, the Topol
Hill and the southern rims of
the Polhov Gradec Dolomites
in the southwest. Over 15,000
inhabitants live in 32 settlements
spread across around 78.5 km2.
Its economic and topographic
diversity ranges from villages to
industrial settlements on hills
and on the plains.
Die Gemeinde Medvode liegt in
Zentralslowenien und erstreckt sich
vom Trbojer Stausee und der Alten
Burg von Smlednik im Nordosten,
den Fuß der Bergen Šmarna gora
und Grmada entlang und bis zu
den Bergen Medanski hrib, Topol
und dem südlichen Rand des
Polhov Gradec Mittelgebirges im
Südwesten. Auf einer Fläche von
ungefähr 78,5 Quadratkilometer
wohnen in 32 Siedlungen
über 15.000 Einwohner. Die
wirtschaftliche und topographische
Vielfalt reicht von Dörfern bis zu
industriellen Siedlungen auf den
Bergen und im Flachland.

kilometrov severozahodno od
Ljubljane ob magistralni cesti
LjubljanaœKranj, na nadmorski
višini 316 metrov.
The centre of the municipality
is Medvode, a town at the
confluence of the Sora and
Sava rivers (hence the name,
which means “between
waters”), where the Sora Plain
meets the Ljubljana Basin. The
town is situated on the main
road LjubljanaœKranj, some
12 kilometres northwest of
Ljubljana, at an altitude of 316
metres above sea level.
Der Hauptort ist Medvode
(deutsch: Zwischenwassern),
ein Ort am Zusammenfluss der
Sava (Sawe) und der Sora, wo
sich die Ebene Sorško polje und
das Ljubljanabecken treffen.
Der Ort liegt 12 Kilometer
nordwestlich von Ljubljana an
