If you choose to perform the installation yourself, it is absolutely vital
that the Stealthbox® be properly mounted to the vehicle according to
these instructions. Failure to mount the enclosure properly presents two
problems:
1) T he sub-bass performance will suffer due to the movement of the
enclosure caused by the force exerted by the woofer(s).
2) A loose enclosure presents a serious safety hazard in the event of a
collision or sudden deceleration.

We strongly recommend that you have your new Stealthbox® installed by your
authorized JL Audio dealer. The installation professionals employed by your
dealer have the necessary tools and experience to disassemble and reassemble
your vehicle properly. If you prefer to perform your own installation, please read
this installation guide completely before beginning the process.

JL Audio recommends high quality amplifiers such as the JL Audio XD300/1. The diagram below shows the recommended crossover settings for the XD300/1. For a detailed description of the
amplfiier settings, consult the owner’s manual for the amplifier. If another amplifier is being used, please reference this illustration and use similar settings on that amplifier.
CONNEC TIONS
Using quality power, signal, and speaker wire is essential in ensuring the performance of your Stealthbox®. JL Audio recommends using a 4 AWG power kit such as the XD-PCS4-1B for your Stealthbox® amplifier. Other kits are available should you be using more than one amplifier. Signal wire such as the JL Audio Premium Audio Interconnect Cables should be used to provide signal for both
channels of the amplifier. JL Audio reccomends using 12AWG speaker wire for subwoofers such as our XC-BCS12-25.

Empty out the cargo area of the vehicle.
Remove the factory nut from the stud.
STEP 2

Remove the A/C service door at the rear of the
driver’s side panel. Locate the factory hole
indicated.
Secure the Upper Bracket to the Lower Bracket
using a pair of 1/4 - 20 Flange Bolts and 1/4 - 20
Flange Nuts as shown.

Slide a 3/8 - 16 U-Nut over the factory hole as
shown.
Slide the Upper Bracket over the factory stud
and secure with the factory nut as shown.

Locate the factory stud indicated.
Slide a 3/8” Lock Washer and a 3/8” Flat Washer
over the 3/8 - 16 x 1-1/4” Hex Bolt, and thread
the assembly through the hole in the Lower
Bracket and into the 3/8 - 16 U-Nut as shown,
and firmly tighten.

Pictured are the Upper and Lower Brackets
installed.
Connect speaker cable to the terminal cup on
the back of the enclosure, and reinstall the
Stealthbox®. Slide a 3/8” Flat Washer, a 3/8”
Lock Washer, and a 3/8 - 16 Hex Nut over each
of the 3/8 - 16 x 2-1/4” Set Screws, and firmly
tighten. Route speaker cable as necessary.

Slide a 3/8 - 16 U-Nut over the large hole in the
Upper and Lower Brackets. Thread a 3/8 - 16
x 2-1/4” Set Screw into each 3/8 - 16 U-Nut as
shown.
Reinstall the subwoofer and the cargo liner.
S T E P 11
Remove the subwoofer from the Stealthbox®,
and place the enclosure into position in the
vehicle, allowing the two 3/8 - 16 x 2-1/4” Set
Screws to pass through the two openings in
the back of the enclosure.
S T E P 12
If the vehicle is equipped with the rubber
cargo liner, it will need to be cut for proper
fitment and easy removal. Use the enclosure
as a guide to mark the cargo liner. Remove
the enclosure and the cargo liner, and cut the
cargo liner on the mark.
