Adam, sixty something, a former swimming champion, is pool attendant at a smart N’Djamena hotel. When the hotel gets taken over by new Chinese owners, he is forced to give up his job to his son Abdel. Terribly resentful, he feels socially humiliated. The country is in the throes of a civil war. Rebel forces are attacking the government. The authorities demand that the population contributes to the «war effort», giving money or volunteers old enough to fight off the assailants. The District Chief constantly harasses Adam for his contribution. But Adam is penniless; he only has his son.... The desert sky is so translucent that it allows them to see right to the boundaries of the universe. It is also a place where the harsh heat of the sun keeps human remains intact: those of the mummies, explorers and miners. But also the remains of the dictatorship’s political prisoners. Whilst the astronomers examine the most distant galaxies in search of probable extraterrestrial life, at the foot of the observatories, women are digging through the desert soil in search of their disappeared relatives… TERRITORIES SOLD: FRANCE, GERMANY, CHILE DIRECTORS’ FORTNIGHT AÑO BISIESTO (Leap Year) by Michael Rowe AND with Mónica Del Carmen, Gustavo Sánchez Parra MACHETE PRODUCCIONES INSTITUTO MEXICANO DE CINEMATOGRAFÍA PRESENT MÓNICA DEL CARMEN GUSTAVO SÁNCHEZ PARRA ( SPANISH - 95 MN ) MACHETE PRODUCCIONES AND INSTITUTO MEXICANO DE CINEMATOGRAFÍA MICHAEL ROWE “AÑO BISIESTO” (LEAP YEAR) WITH MÓNICA DEL CARMEN GUSTAVO SÁNCHEZ PARRA MARCO ZAPATA AND ARMANDO HERNÁNDEZ ASSOCIATED PRODUCERS OLGA GONZÁLEZ GUSTAVO CAMPOS DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY JUAN MANUEL SEPÚLVEDA EDITOR ÓSCAR FIGUEROA JARA ART DIRECTOR ALISARINE DUCOLOMB COSTUME DESIGNER ADOLFO CRUZ MATEO SOUND ANTONIO DIEGO SOUND DESIGNER MIGUEL ÁNGEL MOLINA GUTIÉRREZ THEME “FLORES PARA TI” BY AFRODITA FIRST ASSISTANT DIRECTOR RODRIGO BELLO NOBLE PRODUCED BY EDHER CAMPOS AND LUIS SALINAS WRITTEN BY LUCÍA CARRERAS MICHAEL ROWE DIRECTED BY MICHAEL ROWEE WORLD SALES PYRAMIDE INTERNATIONAL PRESENT A FILM BY Laura is 25 years old.
