Mick Roberts
Mick Roberts was born September 6, 1920, at Tilford, SD, to
Seymore "Pat" and Fern (Riley) Roberts. He grew up in the Black
Hills area. He enlisted in the US Army in 1942. Mick was a 1st Sgt.
And served in WWII and the Korean War. He served in Normandy
and North Africa.
Mick worked as a pipe fitter, electrician, and plumber. He was also
known as a rancher and horse trader.
He was a member of the Belle Fourche Masonic Lodge and the
Naja Shriners. Mick drove the Naja Cowboy stagecoach for over 50
years. He was also a member of the Custer Trail Riders and Western
SD Buckaroos.
Mick, 91 of Whitewood, SD, died Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at the
Department of Veterans Affairs, Fort Meade.
Mick is survived by his son, Jay L. Roberts of Deadwood; sister,
Alice “Sis” Harder of Bremmerton, WA; two sisters-in-law, Wanda
Roberts Hoffman of Spearfish and Jerry Nilson of New Underwood;
seven nieces, Donna (Jerry) Cotton of Deadwood, Narcell (Tom)
Carsten of Rapid City, Suzanne Trentz of Lead, Nikki Champion of
Bremmerton, WA, Nancy (Randy) Rutherford of Bremmerton, WA,
Penny (Robert) Spice of Wisconsin, and Joy (Dan) O’Toole of
Wisconsin; seven nephews, Jack (Janice) Roberts of Rapid City, Pat
(Annie) Roberts of Deadwood, Rick Harder of Bremmerton, WA,
Merwin (Marge) Nilson of Rapid City, Jimmy (Charlotte) Nilson of
Rapid City, Dennis (Jeannette) Nilson of Rapid City, and Randy
(Darlene) Nilson of Rapid City; numerous great-nieces and nephews,
as well as, numerous great-great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three wives, one sister,
and six brothers.
Memorials have been established to the Naja Shriners and the Days
of '76.

immediately following the graveside service.
