International Amateur Radio Union Region 1 Lithuanian Amateur Radio Society Lithuanian Radio Direction Finding Sport Clubs 13th IARU Region 1 (European) Youth ARDF Championships July 11th – 14th, 2012 Lithuania, Siauliai Bulletin No 2 (April 2012) According to the IARU Region 1 ARDF Working Group schedule, Lithuanian Amateur Radio Society have pleasure to invite all IARU Member Societies to participate in the 13th IARU Region 1 (European) Youth ARDF Championships to be held in 2012 in Lithuania. Venue The 13th IARU Region 1 (European) Youth ARDF Championships to be held in Siauliai region. Siauliai is the fourth largest city in Lithuania with the population of 130 thousands inhabitants. It is the largest educational, cultural and industrial center of Northern Lithuania. The Unique Hill of Crosses is found in Siauliai area. The history of Siauliai dates back to the year 1236 when the name of Siauliai and the battle of Saule (Sun) was mentioned in the Livonian historical chronicles. The Lithuanian Samogitians defeated the Livonian Order in this battle. It happened on September 22, 1236, and this date is considered to be the Siauliai city birthday. Every year the city holds the international Sports Games Saules miestas, music festival – Saules ziedas and others. Everybody is welcome. We are looking forward to meeting you in Siauliai. Category W16: females (girls) up to 16 years old (born 1996 or later); team consist of up to 5 persons. Category M14: males (boys) up to 14 years old (born 1998 or later); team consist of up to 5 persons. Category W14: females (girls) up to 14 years old (born 1998 or later); team consist of up to 5 persons. Awards Medals for first, second and third place, each category, each competition, individuals and teams. Certificates for all participants. Visa requirement The citizens of countries, who need visa to enter Lithuania please advise the organizers by e-mail to LRMD [email protected] as soon as possible if you need official invitation or any other assistance. To send you an official invitation we will need: the names of the participants (as they are in the passports), their birthdays and their passports’ numbers. Fees • 150 EUR in total if paid till May 11, 2012 • 165 EUR in total if paid on site The fees cover accomodation, board, transportation, technical service. Marking devices Sport Ident system will be used. Terrain Both terrains are located within 30 km range. They are mid-difficult, relatively flat, with small hills, covered with deciduous forest.
